Crime up in area counties — not Whitley

December 12, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Last week, the Allen County Coroner announced that there have been 44 homicides in Allen County so far this year — tying the record set in 1997.

Whitley County, on the other hand, hasn’t had a violent homicide since 2010 — and only two in the last four years.

While local law enforcement officials believe many factors play into the county’s recent crime trends, many agree that Whitley County’s stiff judicial system thwarts crime.
