FINAL DONATION: Optimist Club leaves on positive note

February 5, 2014

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s Optimist Club did one more act of good after officially disbanding in 2013.

Members gathered Monday to donate the final $1,048.54 to The Center for Whitley County Youth.

Center Executive Director Jeff Wike appreciated the donation from the Optimist Club.

“There’s a lot of organizations doing good things, and they picked us, and we appreciate them getting behind what we’re doing here,” Wike said.

Members cited lack of interest and volunteers as the primary reasons for the club’s disbandment.
