COLUMBIA CITY â€” A 20-year-old Churubusco man, Dallas Jones, was sentenced to 10 years, eight to served and two years suspended, in Whitley County Circuit Court Monday on a charge relating to methamphetamine.
Jones pleaded guilty Aug. 20 to manufacturing methamphetamine, a Class B felony, and he is also expected to pay a $200 Drug and Alcohol Countermeasure fee.
According to the Whitley County Drug Task Force Case Report, Officer Bill Brice reported July 17 receiving information concerning methamphetamine related trash in or around Jonesâ€™ residence at 156 Staunton Ave. in Churubusco.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” A Tri-Lakes fire leveled a garage and damaged two homes Sunday afternoon near Little Cedar Lake.
Thorncreekâ€™s Fire Department was called to 2716 E. Island Ct., the residence of William Henney Jr., at approximately 4:14 p.m. Sunday for a structure fire.
Two vehicles were destroyed and two houses had smoke and heat damage to the outside, but Green said there was no substantial damage inside the houses.
TTFD was assisted by Smith and Noble Township Fire Departments, along with Whitley County EMS and the Whitley County Sheriffâ€™s Department.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” The WCCS board and administrators met at the Eagles Nest Event Center Friday for a brainstorming work session to discuss the corporationâ€™s vision and mission statements.

COLUMBIA CITY â€” Organizations and representatives of various local companies will all come together Tuesday for the annual United Way Day of Caring, which begins at 7 a.m. with a breakfast at the Whitley County 4-H Fairgrounds.
â€śThe United Way partners with other groups and corporations to go out in the community and do service projects that various service organizations might need,â€ť said Cindy Baker, UWWCâ€™s executive director.
â€śSome of these groups have various areas of expertise that can help these organizations.â€ť
COLUMBIA CITY â€” A Whitley County Woman was arrested early Saturday morning after a crash near Tri-Lakes.
Susan R. Janes, 45, was booked on driving while intoxicated after she crashed her car on Willow Avenue in the Shriner Lake area at approximately 3:25 a.m.
Janesâ€™ passenger, Michael Grim, 47, also of Whitley County, suffered a broken neck and was taken to Parkview Whitley Hospital.
According to a press release from the Indiana State Police, Janesâ€™ vehicle crossed the center line, went over a curb and hit a parked car in a yard.
The Whitley County Board of Commissioners announced that they are seeking a county resident that is interested in serving on the Whitley County Planning Commission.
The member must reside in or own property within the unincorporated area of the county.
A political party affiliation is not a requirement for this position.
The main qualification is an awareness of and interest in the development of the county.
