COLUMBIA CITY ‚ÄĒ In 10 years of Beth Scharpenberg‚Äôs final calculus projects, a parody three of her students turned in this week were at the top of her list.
‚ÄúThis is the best project I‚Äôve ever had turned in,‚ÄĚ Scharpenberg.
Apparently, a national news source, the Huffington Post, agrees.
Miranda Johnson, Celine Rongos and Corinne Kauffman took their final assignment to the next level, making a music video from the song ‚ÄúThrift Shop‚ÄĚ by Macklemore, and stuffing it full of calculus terms.
COLUMBIA CITY ‚ÄĒ Doris Fogel, a Holocaust survivor, was the featured speaker at Columbia City‚Äôs Rotary Club meeting Tuesday.
She is the executive director of the Fort Wayne Jewish Federation.
Fogel opened her remarks stating that it was ‚Äú60 years ago that the world averted its eyes from the Germans,‚ÄĚ and that ultimately allowed over 6 million men, women and children to be systematically killed in death camps scattered all over Europe.
‚ÄúAs a survivor, we lost our youth, and we lost our innocence,‚ÄĚ said Fogel. ‚ÄúHope was all we had to deal with the atrocities against the Jews.‚ÄĚ
