Emery Harold Schilling, 103, of Columbia City, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at Peabody Retirement Center, North Manchester.
Born June 15, 1907 in Chester Township, Wabash County, he was the son of Mathias and Ida (Leonhardt) Schilling.

Phyllis E. Mitchell, 88, of Columbia City, passed away at 7:55 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010 at her home. Born Sept. 29, 1922 in Columbia City, she was a daughter of Victor and Hazlette (Brubaker) Phend.

Jimmy Kipp Blake, 23

Jimmy Kipp Blake, 23 of rural Decatur, passed away as the result of a single car accident Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010. He was born Aug. 30, 1987 in Allen County to Cary J. and Amy E. (Geiger) Blake.
Kipp was a member of Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren in rural Decatur. He was an employee at Dolco Packaging. Kipp was a 2006 graduate of Adams Central High School and was attending IPFW in Fort Wayne.

Robert Estlick, 94

Robert Briggs Estlick, 94, a former resident of Columbia City, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 in Edina, Minn.
He was born April 1, 1916 in Troy Township, a son of Neil T. and Blanche M. Estlick. His formative years were spent in Troy Township. He was educated in the Etna Troy School, graduated from Columbia City High School in 1934 and from Indiana University in 1939 with a degree in business.

Donald Reed, 91

Donald Laurel “Smiley” Reed, 91, of Columbia City, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at The Oaks, Columbia City. Born Aug. 27, 1919 in Logansport, he was a son of Homer L. and Ruth (Twells) Reed.

Alecia Stine, 24

Alecia Louise Stine, 24, of rural Columbia City died at 12:07 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at her home.
She was born Aug. 25, 1986 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Shannon and Tammy (Stine) Leazier. Her formative years were spent in Washington Township. She attended Columbia City High School and later completed her G.E.D. She then completed a Certified Nurses Assistant program.
In addition to her CNA, she worked for various fast-food franchises in the area.

Augusta Carner, 85

Augusta Dujardin Carner, 85, passed away and now rests in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus. She was a daughter of Alberic and Irene Dujardin of Mishawaka. She married Gerald Edward Carner Sept. 17, 1949.
A lifelong Mishawaka resident before moving to Columbia City, she spent the past six years with her daughter, Denise (David) Heckman.
She was a loving and dedicated mother and there are no words to describe the love she had towards her family and all she knew.

Michael Gingher, 67

December 3, 2010

Michael D. Gingher, 67, of Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at Glencrest Nursing & Rehab Center in Chicago where he was admitted Oct. 5 after an extended illness.
He was born March 23, 1943 in Fort Wayne, a son of Harold R. and Sarah A. (Arnold) Gingher. He lived throughout the United States while his father was stationed in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from Quantico High School.
He served in the United States Marine Corps for 31 years, retiring in 1991.
He also retired from General Electric with 31 years of service.

Joe Krider, 94

Joe W. Krider, 94, a resident of rural Churubusco in Allen County, passed away at 7:40 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at his residence in Eel River Township following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Krider was born April 25, 1916 in Smith Township, south of Collins, a son of Ralph and Vida (Smith) Krider, and was a lifelong resident of this area. On June 6, 1937 he was married in Eel River Township to Grace Chapman, and had lived at his current address since 1949.

Cameron Amber, 20

Cameron Robert Amber, 20, a resident of Churubusco, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, from the results of a two-vehicle accident on U. S. 33, south of Churubusco.
Amber was born Feb. 5, 1990 in Columbia City, a son of Robert C. and Marna (Friskney) Amber and was a lifelong resident of Churubusco. He graduated from Churubusco High School in 2009, and was the school’s quarterback for its semistate football team in 2007. He had served with the U. S. Air Force, coached Churubusco Youth Football and enjoyed his diesel truck.
