Jack Eugene Pritchard, 76

Jack Eugene Pritchard, 76, of Columbia City, passed away at 3:53 p.m., Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at his residence. Born Feb. 22, 1934 in Columbia City, he was a son of Merl and Sara (Brown) Pritchard.

A lifetime resident of Columbia City, he attended school in the Jefferson Township School System. On Sept. 15, 1953, he married Roberta Mae Birch in Columbia City. He was employed with the Whitley County Highway Department for over 35 years, retiring in 1995. He was an active member of the Blue River Church of the Brethren.

Irma Grace Eberhard, 95

Irma Grace Eberhard, 95, died Aug. 11, 2010. She was born Sept. 23, 1914 in Columbia City to John Francis and Mattie Bleu McCoy. She married Carl Eugene Eberhard.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Lee Gorman and four sons, Robert Lee Eberhard, Stanley Eugene Eberhard, Carl Allen Eberhard and Charles Roger Eberhard.

A visitation was held Thursday morning followed by a funeral service.

Betsy Goodwin Gates, 77

Betsy Goodwin Gates, 77, of Columbia City, died Friday afternoon at Miller’s Merry Manor.

She was born April 19, 1933 in Knoxville, Tenn., a daughter of Martin Gilbert and Mary Lynn (Foster) Goodwin. She graduated from Lenoir City High School in 1951, attended Randolph Macon Women’s College for two years and graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 1955.

On Aug. 16, 1955 she was united in marriage to Benton E. Gates Jr. In the spring of 1957 they moved to Columbia City.

Norman E. Downing, 73

Norman E. Downing, 73, of Cortland, Ohio, formerly of Columbia City, died Aug. 18, 2010. He was a son of the late Floyd and Thelma Downing. He married Rachel Cox.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel; children, Adam Downing and Blaine Downing; and a sister, Donna Rafferty.
A memorial service was held at the Braceville Christian Church at 10:30 a.m. today.

Kenneth E. Dammeyer, 73

     Kenneth E. Dammeyer, 73, a resident of rural Churubusco, passed away Tuesday evening, Aug. 17, 2010 at the family residence in Smith Township. He had been in declining health for some time, and had been seriously ill since January.

     Mr. Dammeyer was born Jan. 2, 1937 in St. Mary’s, Ohio, a son of Leon and Ada (Moeller) Dammeyer. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1955, and as a young man served with the U.S. Army National Guard.

Lenville Fitch, 59

     Lenville Fitch, 59, of Delaware, Ohio, formerly of Martin, Ky., was born July 10, 1951 in Floyd County, Ky. to the late Phillip and Alka Blevins Fitch. He passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, Ohio following an extended illness.

     He was a disabled auto factory worker.

Faye L. Hodson Humbarger Wright, 87

     Faye L. Wright, 87, Marion, died at 7:40 p.m., Friday, July 2, 2010 in her daughter’s residence in Marion.

     She was born in Whitley County to the late Loren and Philena (Brubaker) Hodson and lived in Florida since 1984. She was a 1941 graduate of Coesse High School and was valedictorian of her class.

Arthur E. Loe, 74

      Arthur E. Loe, 74, of Columbia City, died Friday evening, Aug. 13, 2010 at Sacred Heart Hospital of Eau Claire, Wis. where he was admitted July 31.

     He was born Feb. 24, 1936 in Columbia City, a son of James E. and Sarah Jane Olive (DeWitt) Loe. As a young boy, his family moved to the Roanoke area. He graduated from Roanoke High School in 1954. In 1955 he moved to Larwill. On Jan. 14, 1959, he was inducted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged as Corporal Dec. 31, 1964.

Irma Sue Crutchfield, 64, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010 at her residence. Born July 26, 1946 in Avawam, Ky., she was a daughter of Charles and Ruby (Feltner) Lovely.

   Agnes P. Stanley, 92, of North Manchester died at 6:37 p.m. Aug. 14, 2010 at her residence at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester.
   Born in Whitley County, she was a daughter of the late James W. and Hazel (Raypole) Gaff.
   She married Lloyd E. Stanley Dec. 31, 1941. He preceded her in death Aug. 21, 2008.
