Brian Allen Langmeier, 44, of Columbia City, and formerly of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born May 12, 1967, in Janesville, Wisc. he was the son of Albert Arthur and Garnet R. (Gavin) Langmeier.
He attended Parker Senior High School and completed his education at Madison Area Tech College.
His formative years were spent in Wisconsin.
Edward L. Miller, 69

ALBION â€“ Edward Lee Miller, age 69, of Albion, Ind., passed away at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at IU Medical Center, Indianapolis.
Born on Oct, 9, 1942 in Peru, he was the son of Joseph Harold and Mary (Deeb) Miller.
He lived in Peru, moving to Fort Wayne in 1963 and then, in 1992, he moved to his present home near Albion.
Keith A. Rupert, 93

Keith Arispa Rupert, age 93, of Columbia City, passed away at 3:47 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Columbia City.
Born on Dec. 31, 1917 in Huntington County, he was the son of Daniel D. and Mary E. (Weigold) Rupert.
He was a lifelong resident of Whitley County, living over 50 years on Hanna Street and attended Columbia City High School.
On August 2, 1948 he married Chloris L. Rivet in Warsaw.
Mantie L. Ernst, 82

Mantie Louise Ernst, age 82, of Columbia City, passed away at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at her home.
Born June 12, 1929 in Eolia, Ky., she was the daughter of J. Ballard and Hila (Branson) Collier.
She grew in Eolia and came to Columbia City in 1962. On Nov. 24, 1967 she married Howard A. Ernst in Columbia City.
She worked at Essex from 1976-79 and 1989-90, Addimeyers for three years and also was a homemaker.
She was a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church for the past 20 years.
Cordelia Browning, 88

Cordelia May Browning, age 88, of Pierceton, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Columbia City.
Born Feb. 7, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of Drue Dresher and Forest Ethel (Denlinger) Funderburg.
She spent her childhood in Illinois, where she graduated from Elgin High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Ball State University.
Fred L. Nix, 60

Fred L. Nix, age 60, of Columbia City, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Born Aug. 25, 1951 in Quebec City, Canada, he was the son of Alfred J. and Marion E. (Trumbower) Nix.
He grew up in Columbia Township and in 1993 moved to his current residence.
He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1969 and worked at Weatherhead/Dana, Columbia City with 28 years of service. He was a member of St. Catherines Catholic Church and was an avid nature and dog lover.
Benjamin I. Harter, 92

Benjamin I. Harter, 92, a former resident of Churubusco and more recently of Fort Wayne, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Kindred Transitional Care in Fort Wayne. Although he had been a patient there for the past two months, his death was unexpected. Mr. Harter was born Dec. 16, 1918 in Smith Township near Collins, a son of Arlando and Olive (Sours) Harter, and spent his formative years there. He was educated at the former Collins School, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1937.
SOUTH WHITLEY â€” Palmer E. Welty, 84, of South Whitley, died at 10:26 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
He was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Huntington, a son of Clarence and Josephine (Stookey) Welty.
His formative years were spent in Huntington where he attended Huntington High School.
On Nov. 14, 1948, he was united in marriage to Darlene Lofland. They made their home in Huntington.
They then moved to Big Barbee Lake where they resided for 25 years.
In 1996, they moved to South Whitley.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Evelyn R. Winebrenner, 82, of rural Columbia City, died at 2:42 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne where she was admitted Oct. 27.
She was born Nov. 6, 1928 in Elkhart County, a daughter of Cecil and Faith (Miller) Phend.
As a young girl, her family moved to Merriam. She graduated from Wolf Lake High School.
On May 29, 1949 she was united in marriage to Tyrus A. Winebrenner. They made their first home at Bear Lake, later moving to a farm in York Township, Noble County for 13 years.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Larry T. Knafel, 69, of rural Columbia City, died unexpectedly at 1:20 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne from complications following surgery.
He was born Aug. 22, 1942 in Fort Wayne, a son of Omer Cleland and Bernadine M. (Witte) Knafel.
His formative years were spent in Churubusco and later Jefferson Township, Whitley County.
He graduated from Columbia City High School.
From 1960 until 1962 he served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Hancock as a machinist mate.
