Michael Hazen, 70

Michael E. (“Mick” or “Mike”) Hazen, 70, a lifelong resident of Whitley County, died Thursday, March 31, 2011.
Mr. Hazen was born June 21, 1940 to Chalmers and Mildred Hazen. For 38 1/2-plus years he was employed at the General Electric Company in Fort Wayne.

Georgianna Karst, 95

Georgianna Karst, 95, of Columbia City, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 11:15 a.m. at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City. Born Dec. 9, 1915 in Kendallville, she was a daughter of Clayton and Laura (Cramer) Castator.
She graduated from Huntington Schools, Huntington County. On May 8, 1937, she married Frank L. Karst. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Blue Bell and Whitley County Hospital in housekeeping as an assistant, sterilizing linens and instruments for 15 years.

Magdalene Brandt, 87

Magdalene W. Brandt, 87, a former resident of Walkerton and South Bend, and widow of Carl Brandt, Sr., passed away at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.
She was born in Clay City March 14, 1924, a daughter of Charles and Hester (Kendall) Staley.
The surviving relatives include two daughters, Sherian Young and Robin Williams; two sons, Thoral Brandt and Marvin Brandt; and a brother, Donald Staley.

Clarence Rosenberger, 83

Clarence Wayne Rosenberger, 83, of Jefferson Township, Whitley County, died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Renaissance Village where he had been a resident since Monday.
He was born Sept. 24, 1927 in Fort Wayne, a son of Clarence Z. and Ruth (Sheets) Rosenberger. As a fifth grader, his family moved to Jefferson Township from Fort Wayne. He graduated from Jefferson Center High School in 1945.
During World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps.
On May 18, 1947 he was united in marriage to Janice E. Sever. They moved to their present home in 1950.
