James Robert Nix, 75, of Columbia City, died on Sunday, May 15, 2011 unexpectedly at his residence. Born May 7, 1936, he was a son of the late Leo and Magdalene Nix.
Gayle Y. Kile, 58, of Columbia City, passed away at 5:28 a.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Parkview Whitley Hospital. She was born May 29, 1952 in Portland, a daughter of Ronald Jack and Ruth V. (Day) Pease.
Gail Eugene “Gene” Gran, 80, of Palmetto, Fla. and Columbia City, joined the Lord Monday, May 9, 2011. He was born Feb. 19, 1931. Beloved husband of Shirley, who passed away in 2008 after 59 years of marriage.
E. Max Glassley, 89 of Columbia City and formerly of South Whitley died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Renaissance Village, Fort Wayne. He was born Oct. 12, 1921, the son of Russell L. and Winifred L. (Shriver) Glassley, in the same house in which he grew up in South Whitley. Mr. Glassley spent his entire lifetime in South Whitley until moving to Columbia City in 2003. He graduated from South Whitley High School with the Class of 1939. He first worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad then entered the United States Army in 1942, serving in the European Theatre as a Medic.

Theo J. Thomas, 84, of Syracuse, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born Jan. 25, 1927 in Wolf Lake to Carlton L. and Edna (Galloway) Thomas.
Survivors include a daughter, Beckie Thomas; a son, Carl (Becky) Thomas of Mishawaka; a brother, DeWitt Thomas, and lifetime companion, Phyllis Weaver.
Chelsea Patricia Solliday, 19, of New Hope, Ala., passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011.
Born Nov. 2, 1991, she was a daughter of James Solliday and Denise H. (Jody) Schaffer,
Besides her parents, survivors include a son, Cameron Solliday; grandmother, Patricia Bradlow; sister, Wendy Estelle; three uncles, Geoff (Cheryl) Hoch, Christian Hoch and Bradley (Holly) Solliday; an aunt, Tammy (Paul) Solliday-Burris; a great-uncle, William Beckman; and cousins, Autum Solliday and John Solliday.
Hazel L. Hartley, 96, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne. Born May 28, 1914 in Mercer County, Pa., she was a daughter of Charles and Emma (Miller) Musselman.
She lived in Allen and Noble counties until moving to Florida and then returned to Whitley County. She married Ralph “Jack” Hartley. She worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools at Lakeside School as a cook.

Kenneth D. Coble, 75, South Whitley, died at 1:18 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Ft. Wayne. He was born in Cleveland Township April 19, 1936 to Ray and Cloa (Shaffer) Coble.
Survivors include his wife, Sonda Coble; two sons, Kerry Kent Coble and Brad Coble; a brother, Herbert Coble; and a sister, Alice Leslie.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in South Whitley Cemetery, state Route 14, South Whitley. Rev. Dale Linhart will officiate. There are no calling hours.
Carl E. “Hub” Wilkinson, 75, of Goshen, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. He was born Dec. 30, 1935 in Syracuse to Roy and Katie (Bitner) Wilkinson. He was a United States Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Avis Wilkinson; two sons, Brian Wilkinson and Darren Wilkinson; and a sister, Marlene Pollock.
Mary Fern Prucinsky, 72, of Albion, passed away at 4:28 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. Born Feb. 25, 1939 in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of Daniel Hobart and Selma (Anderson) Wolfe.
