Holly Curtis, 54

COLUMBIA CITY — Holly J. Curtis, 54, of Columbia City, died at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 at Parkview Whitley Hospital where she had been admitted Monday.
She was born Jan. 10, 1957 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Harley L. and Mary Jane (Twitchell) Greeno.
On Dec. 29, 1981, she married to Steven M. Curtis.
She is survived by her husband, Steven; a daughter, Heather Kay Curtis, Pierceton; a son Mikal Curtis, Charlotte, N.C.; a grandson, Jadon Patterson; her mother, Mary Jane (John) Noe, Mooresville, N.C. and a brother, Jeffrey L. Greeno, Mooresville, N.C.

Clarence Worley, 55

Clarence Randel Worley, Sr., 55, a resident of Churubusco, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at 10:46 a.m. in his residence.
Mr. Worley was born Oct. 12, 1955, in Whitley City, Ky, a son of Garrett C. and Pearlie Ethel (Phillips) Worley.
He spent his formative years between Whitley City, Ky. and Yuba County., Calif., before entering the U. S. Navy.
He worked at Preferred Technologies in Fort Wayne until 2003, and was a member of the Churubusco Veterans of Foreign Wars Turtle Post 3846. On June 6, 1994, he married Jacqueline Ann Guisiner in Columbia City. She survives.

Carl Henson, 82

MARION — Carl Howard Henson, 82, of Marion, passed away at 3:10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born May 7, 1929, in Bona, Ark. to Lyman and Leona Henson.
He spent most of his lifetime in Marion, where he retired in 1993 from GM Fisher Body after more than 25 years of service.
He was a member of Marion Baptist Temple where he served as an usher for many years.
Mr. Henson also built two homes for he and his family, played the guitar and loved to put together puzzles.

Ronald Ramsey, 67

COLUMBIA CITY — Ronald L. Ramsey, 67, of rural Columbia City, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.
He had been battling cancer for the past five years.
He was born Oct. 13, 1943, in Oklahoma and spent his formative years in Sioux City, Iowa.
A veteran, he served in the National Guard.
He married Linda L. Davidson and they always made their home in rural Columbia City.
He was employed at Essex for more than 20 years until its closing and retired from USF Holland.

Paul Sheets, 74

COLUMBIA CITY — Paul V. Sheets, 74, of Columbia City, died at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at Parkview Oaks where he had been a resident since Aug. 4.
He was born Aug. 6, 1937 in Willet, N.Y., the son of Evan Lowell and Goldie Catherine (Walters) Sheets. As a young boy, his family moved to Larwill.
On May 6, 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged Aug. 8, 1961.
On June 10, 1961, he married Lois A. May. They made their home in Larwill for a short time before moving to Columbia City.
He retired in 2009 from UniRoyal with 31 years of service.

Lee Shively, 87

Lee B. Shively, 87, of Churubusco, passed away at 4:33 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Born May 17, 1924 in Angola, he was the son of Chalmer S. and Velma M. (Geiger) Shively.
He is a lifetime resident of Churubusco, graduating from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1942.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
On Sept. 17, 1944, he married Wiladene A. Garrison at Blue River Church of the Brethren.

William Smith, 76

KEYSTONE — William G. Smith, 76, of Keystone, Ind., passed away at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center in Bluffton.
He was born Sept. 5, 1935, in Larwill, the son of the late Robert and Mary Eloise (Smith) Smith.
He graduated from Larwill High School with the class of 1953.
Mr. Smith married Linda Smith in 2000 at the Son Light Wesleyan Church in Bluffton.
He was a co-owner of Midwest Florist Supply in Fort Wayne, where he started as a teenager and was in the floral business throughout his life.

Dennis Spurling, 43

SOUTH WHITLEY — Dennis M. Spurling, 43, of rural South Whitley, died at 9:29 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident on Sept. 9 in Kosciusko County.
He was born July 26, 1968 in Goshen, a son of Larry M. and Deborah M. (Grabner) Spurling.
He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1987.
He was employed at Rinker Boat Company for eight years, Liberty Coach for a few years and currently Whitley Manufacturing.
He married Rebecca L. Stouder.
They made their home in Syracuse.

Larry Ruse, 71

SOUTH WHITLEY — Larry L. Ruse, 71, of South Whitley, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 21, 2011 at his home. He had been battling cancer.
He was born Oct. 26, 1939 in Kosciusko County, a son of Alfonso “Von” and Cloris (Krider) Ruse.
His formative years were spent in South Whitley. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1957.
On June 15, 1957, he entered the U.S. Army. He was released from active duty and entered the army reserve on June 30, 1960. He was honorably discharged June 21, 1963.
On April 4, 1981 he was united in marriage to Sandra K. Lewis. They made their home in South Whitley.

Norma Wooldridge, 83

Norma L. Wooldridge, 83, a former resident of rural Churubusco and more recently of Fort Wayne, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 at 2:09 p.m. at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
She was born July 31, 1928 in Belington, West Virginia, a daughter of Steven and Rita (Myers) England.
On Jan. 31, 1966, she married Elmer D. Wooldridge. He preceded her in death Sept. 11, 2004.
