George Lewis Sitts, 67, of Columbia City passed away at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born June 9, 1943 in South Whitley, he was a son of Wayne and Irene Elizabeth (Salesman) Sitts.
He lived his entire lifetime in Whitley County and the past two years at his present home. He attended Warsaw schools. On Nov. 28, 1963 he married Wanda Kay Brown in Columbia City. He was a retired diesel mechanic for Serv-All in Fort Wayne and enjoyed driving and building race cars and was an avid fisherman.
Marjorie Madeline Krider Thompson, 88, formerly of South Whitley, died at 12:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Columbia City.
She was born June 7, 1922 in Topeka, Kan., a daughter of Chauncey and Dessie (Anderson) Hurd. As a young child her family moved to Whitley County. She attended school in Larwill and graduated from Larwill High School.
Lucy (Bojrab) Surber, 89, a resident of Fort Wayne and widow of the Rev. Herman E. Surber, passed away at 9:52 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Life Care Center in Fort Wayne. She had been in failing health for some time, and had been a patient there for the past year and a half.
Mrs. Surber was born Aug. 9, 1921 in Eel River Township, a daughter of Samuel and Libby (Slyby) Bojrab. She was the widow of the Rev. Herman E. Surber.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Suzanne K. Surber; a sister, Mary Bojrab; two brothers, Norman Bojrab, Sr. and George Bojrab.
Hargus Howard, 90, formerly of Silver Lake, died at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at the Hendry County Medical Center in Clearwater, Fla.
He was born Oct. 8, 1920 in Salyersville Ky., a son of Kendile and Mary (Allen) Howard. He married Hattie England Sept. 1, 1942.
Howard spent most of his life in the Silver Lake area, moving to Florida in 2000. He was a machinist for Gripco and a farmer.
He was a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God in Silver Lake.
Taylor Lynn Creech, five months, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
She was born July 28, 2010.
A private burial was held at Oak Grove (Compton) Cemetery, Columbia City.

Robert Keith â€śBobâ€ť Hullinger, 81, of North Webster, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 4, 2011 at his home. He was born Jan. 16, 1929 in Huntington to Mahlon Henry and Josie Mae (Cloud) Hullinger.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Hullinger; daughter, Rebecca Kaye Worthman; three sons, Robert K. Hullinger Jr, John M. Hullinger and Thomas A. Hullinger; and a sister, Roberta Rupley.
There will be no viewing or services per his request. Private family burial will take place at the Pilgram Rest Cemetery in Huntington at a later date.
Pat Peters, 71, a resident of Churubusco and wife of Mahlon E. Peters, passed away at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She had been in failing health since November.
Mrs. Peters was born Feb. 13, 1939 in Swan Township in Noble County, a daughter of Ralph B. and Fae E. (Butler) Carter, Sr., and graduated from Woodburn High School in 1957.
On Nov. 12, 1960 she was married in Columbia City to Mahlon E. Peters, and lived there until moving to her present home in Churubusco in 1968.
Mary Ann Pund, 85, a former resident of Eel River Township and widow of Charles Edward Pund, passed away at 8:43 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at the St. Anne Home in Fort Wayne.
Born in Wapakoneta, Ohio March 22, 1925, she was a daughter of Joseph and Sarah (Higgins) Kohler.
The surviving relatives include her children, James C. Pund, Keith G. Pund, Patricia Poling and Lynn Haire; and three sisters, Nelle Gault, Edith Stroh and Alice Schwer.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Father John Overmyer, officiating.
Maurice L. Pfeiffer, 88, passed away at home Monday, Jan. 3, 2011.Â Born in Fort Wayne March 2, 1922, he was a son of Fred and Jessie Pfeiffer.Â
He served the country as a Marine in World War II and the Korean Conflict.Â He retired from Navistar in 1983 after 36 years.Â He was a member of the New Haven Masonic Lodge 740, Waynedale O.E.S. 600, Shrine, American Legion Post 330 and Trinity English Lutheran Church.
Vivian Louise Fidler, 89, a resident of rural Churubusco for the last 28 years, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011 at Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne.
Born Dec. 20, 1921 in Conneaut, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Albert Burr and Mary Elizabeth (Connell) Bruner. She was united in marriage to Theo â€śJackâ€ť Fidler, and he preceded her in death in 2000.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacklyn L. Norris; a son, Robert Fidler; and a brother, Melvin Bruner.
