John Bucher, 69

John C. Bucher, 69, of Columbia City died at 7:08 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Columbia City, where he had been a resident for the past week and a half.
He was born June 22, 1943, in Rochester, a son of Daniel M. and Barbara J. (Ferverda) Bucher.
His formative years were spent in Silver Lake. He graduated from Silver Lake High School.
On Sept. 2, 1962, he was united in marriage to Karen S. Heckaman. They made there home at Diamond Lake and later Roann before moving to Whitley County where they have resided for the past 44 years.

David McCullough, 74

David Isaac McCullough, 74, of Columbia City, passed away at 2:07 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Born July 3, 1938, in Churubusco, he was the son of John Thomas and Marion Etta (Rosenogle) McCullough.
He graduated from Churubusco High School with the class of 1956 and earned an Associate’s Degree from Indiana Technology.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until he was honorably discharged in 1959.

Donald Phend, 76

Donald Dean Phend, 76, of Tippecanoe Lake, passed away at 7:45 p.m., Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, in his residence.
On March 21, 1936, he was born in Columbia City to Donald and Henrietta (Nelson) Phend. He married Shirley World on Aug. 31, 1956, in Forest Park, Ill.
Donald lived in Columbia City until he got married, then moved to Illinois, eventually moving back to the area 32 years ago.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1954-56 with the military police. He graduated with honors from Ivy Tech, Fort Wayne, receiving a degree in electronics.

Jessica Fields, 30

Jessica Irene Fields, 30, of Pierceton, passed away at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at her home. Born Feb. 22, 1982 in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Charley and Brenda Gail (Collier) Duty.
A lifetime Pierceton resident, she attended Whitko High School, South Whitley. She was a homemaker and attended New Hope Wesleyan Church, Columbia City.
