Judith Hosler, age 85, of Columbia City, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at the Heritage, Huntington.
Born on May 24, 1927, in Noble County, she was the daughter of Reverend Valmont and F. Beryl (Weeks) Fry.
She has lived in Whitley County her entire life and attended Columbia City High School for 10 years and received her GED later in life.
On January 12, 1947, she married Kenneth C. Hosler in Columbia City. She worked at Blue Bell and Columbia Products, Columbia City, before she and her husband opened Hoslerâ€™s TV Store.
Martha J. Reid, 76, of Columbia City, died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne where she was admitted on Friday.
She was born Dec. 27, 1935, in Wolf Lake, a daughter of Thomas H. and Helen E. (Cole) Carter. Her lifetime was spent in Whitley County and Pierceton, for 16 years, where she completed her education.
On July 19, 1952, she was united in marriage to Robert J. Reid. In 1959, they moved to their home on Loon Lake. Mr. Reid died July 19, 1994. Since August 1995, Martha has made her home in Columbia City.
Harold Ellsworth Harmon, 93, of Columbia City, passed away at 3:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at his home.
Born on March 18, 1919, in Marshall County, he was the son of William E. and Blanche (Waddle) Harmon.
He attended Tippecanoe High School, Marshall County. He lived in Allen County and moved to Whitley County in 1978.
On Dec. 31, 1940, he married Anita C. (McCutcheon) Harmon in Fort Wayne.
Mary L. Downen, 69, passed away Oct. 30, 2012, at her home in Fort Wayne.
Born Nov. 9, 1942, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late David and Ruth Hostetter.
She married Bobby Downen in 1969. Surviving relatives include her husband, a daughter and two granddaughters.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Columbia City.
Memorials may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Communities Respite Scholarship Fund or Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid-LWML.
Franklin Marker, 93, of Warsaw, passed away at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. Born July 15, 1919 in Noble County, he was the son of Franklin and Renie (Hile) Marker.
He graduated from Wolf Lake High School in the late 1930s. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II building Liberty Ships and teaching artillery.
He spent most of his adult lifetime in the Tri-Lakes area, moving to Warsaw approximately 22 years ago.
Shanna Lorraine Ballard, 23 and her unborn daughter, Paisley Rebbecca Jo Ballard of Albion, both passed away at 12:12 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Shanna was born Jan. 26, 1989 in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Donald Millard and Rebbecca L. (Carpenter) Hodgkins.
Doris J. Doty, 88, formerly of Woodburn, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Columbia City.
Born in rural Allen County she was the daughter of the late Carl and Minerva (Louden) Baumert.
She retired in 1968 after 15 years with General Electric Company and was a loving homemaker for her husband of 70 years, Wayne, he survives.
She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, Payne, Ohio and the GE Elex Club. Doris loved her many years spent in Florida fishing with Wayne.
Dorotha E. Sheets, 95, of Columbia City, died at 1:10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in the emergency room at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
She was born Nov. 30, 1916, in Whitley County, a daughter of Ansel M. and Elma B. (Wagner) Mullett.
Her formative years were spent in Washington Township. She graduated from Washington Center High School, received her teaching certificate from Indiana University in Bloomington and her bachelors degree in education from Manchester College.
Samantha Sue (Spencer) Wagner, 26, a former resident of Churubusco and more recently of Richmond, passed away unexpectedly at 10:09 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Reid Hospital in Richmond.
Samantha was born on Dec. 10, 1985 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Michael A. and Cathy (Lonsbury) Wagner. She spent her formative years near Churubusco, graduated from Churubusco High School in 2004, and also attended Indiana-Purdue University in Fort Wayne.
On October 20, 2007 she was married in Churubusco to Austin Wagner. Since that time she had been a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker.
Reverend John Daniel Groff, 100, of Huntington, died Oct. 31, 2012.
He was born in Jefferson Township, Huntington County to Russell and Hazel (Hawkins) Groff on May 24, 1911.
He married Helen Eberhart in 1941.
In 1993, following the death of Helen Groff, he married Mary Myerly Reece.
He is survived by two children, four grandchildren and one stepgreat-grandson. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Dr., Huntington.
