COLUMBIA CITY â€” Richard A. Doversberger, 85, of Columbia City, died at 2:12 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at Parkview Oaks where he was admitted March 16.
He was born July 19, 1926, in Warren, a son of J. Ezra and Orpha Nadine (Bardsley) Doversberger.
His formative years were spent in Warren.
He graduated from Warren High School, Ball State Teachers College and Ball State University.
On Dec. 30, 1948, he was inducted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged April 3, 1953.
Mary Lou Lowery, 69, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:54 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at her home.
Born March 24, 1943, in Huntington, she was the daughter of Dale E. and Maragaret F. (Veilahauer) Shivley.
She was raised in Huntington, graduating from Huntington Township School with the class of 1962 and from the Fort Wayne School of Cosmetology.
On Nov. 23, 1973, she married E. Allen Lowery in Dillon, S.C.
Mark David Gibson, 49, of Glen Burnie, Md. died at 10:45 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 7, 1963 in Elkhart, he was a son of the late David Gibson and Cora (Dale) Deter of Columbia City.
He was a 1981 graduate of Concord High School in Elkhart and a 1986 graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington.
Through his 26 years of service with the Department of Defense, he traveled extensively, most recently living in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Robert Eugene Gilbert, 74, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at Parkview Huntington Hospital, Huntington.
Born on Dec. 9, 1937, in Lima, Ohio, he was the son of Charles Leonard and Goldie Marie (Toland) Gilbert.
He grew up in Lima, Ohio and his adult lifetime was spent in Delphos, Van Wert, Ohio and, for the past five years, Columbia City.
He graduated from Lima Senior Hgh School and he was a former Walmart employee.
He was married to Marjorie Annette Deubler in Lima, Ohio on April 10, 1959.
FORT WAYNE â€” Joan A. Schwartz, 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital.
She was born Nov. 16, 1928, in Fulton County, Ohio to the late Harry and Emma (Schroeder) Meyer.
She worked in the accounting department for Phelps Dodge, retiring in 1985. Mrs. Schwartz was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she volunteered with the Nimble Needles Group and she was a past member of the Fort Wayne Womenâ€™s Club.
Don Alvey, 84, of Columbia City, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at his home.
Born March 10, 1928, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of John and Bessie (Hanshew) Alvey.
He attended Fort Wayne Schools. He resided in Fort Wayne until moving to Columbia City in 1958.
On July 29, 1977 he married Arola L. Boese at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven.
He always worked in Fort Wayne where he was employed at Summit City News and then at Blue Flame Gas Company and in 1982, he retired from Pyrofax.
Joel S. Harris, V, 65, of Columbia City, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at his residence.
Born May 19, 1946, in Falls Church, Va., he was the son of Joel S. and Isabel (Clark) Harris, IV.
He served as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War
On Sept. 13, 1976, he married Sheila McCann in Fort Wayne.
Ilamae Hinricks , 71, of Fort Wayne, died at 5 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
She was born March 1, 1941, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Jesse Hartzog and Helen (Seitner) Richadrson.
On Sept. 7, 1974, she was married in Fort Wayne to Ronald G. Hinrichs. He preceded her in death Jan. 28, 2006.
Surviving relatives her include twin sister, Ilarae Cunningham of Fort Wayne; a brother-in-law, Arthur Hinrichs of Howe, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father.
By the request of the family, there will be no services.
Pamela Smith, 60, of Albion, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Wesley Healthcare in Auburn.
Mrs. Smith was born April 8, 1951, in Gary, a daughter of Leroy and Isabell (Zigler) Mason.
She spent her formative years in Gary.
On Aug. 28, 1999, she was married in the yard of their Albion home to Curtis Lee Smith.
Kit Redman, 63, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Fort Wayne to Paul and Kathlene Redman.
He was a graduate of Columbia City Joint High School.
He was captain of the football team and received a football scholarship to Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisc. where he earned his bachelorâ€™s degree.
Later, he married the love of his life, Carmen, and he embarked upon his 33-year career as a chemical salesman with Univar, Inc.
