John Lee â€śThatchâ€ť Plunkett, 64, a resident of Churubusco and formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at the family residence.
He had been battling cancer for the past seven years, and had been more seriously ill since 2010.
Mr. Plunkett was born in Fort Wayne Jan. 20, 1948, a son of John James and Alice Caroline (Christiansen) Plunkett.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Thelma Millie Pettigrew, 97, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at her home.
Born Jan. 24, 1915, in New Haven, she was the daughter of Harry J. and Bessie Artola (Bauserman) Smith.
She attended New Haven Elementary, Arcola High School and completed her education at Cass Tech in Detroit.
She also attended night school at Dency & Warren Community College. She lived in New Haven through grade school and, for a short time, in Michigan.
Verba Mae Wilson, 73, a resident of Eel River Township in Allen County died at 5:43 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
She was born in Seward, Neb. on March 9, 1939, a daughter of Earl W. and Esther E. (Eicher) Stutzman.
On Nov. 18, 1957, she married Lyle G. Wilson, who survives.
Greg Allen Howard, 43, of New Windsor, Ill., and formerly of South Whitley, recently passed away at his home.
Born July 31, 1968, in Wabash, he was the son of George A. and Janet L. (Brown) Howard.
He graduated from Whitko High School with the Class of 1986 and attended college in Defiance, Ohio and Indiana-Purdue University, Fort Wayne.
He lived in South Whitley for 21 years prior to moving to Illinois where he lived for the past 23 years.
He worked at P.P.C. Plastics, Moline, Ill. in the injection mold set-up department.

COLUMBIA CITY â€” Nancy J. Grissom, 61, of Richland Township died at 9:44 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, at Parkview Whitley Hospital emergency room.
She was born Jan. 2, 1951, in Johnstown, Pa., a daughter of Richard D. and Jean L. (Baltzer) Wolfe.
She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School and Indiana University with a bachelorâ€™s degree in education.
On Sept. 7, 1974, she was united in marriage to Michael W. Grissom. They made their home in Albion until 1988, when they moved to their present home.
Jerry Lee Badskey, 74, of North Webster and North Manchester, died at 8:05 a.m. on Friday, April, 13, 2012, at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester.
He was born on March 30, 1938, in Huntington to Lorin Justin and Ruby Marie (Lepley) Badskey.
He served in the Air National Guard of Indiana and the Reserve of the U.S. Air Force during the Berlin Crisis.
Dennis Dewitt Blaugh, 61, of Loon Lake, died at 11:18 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Physicians Regional Hospital in Naples, Fla.
He was born Jan. 14, 1951, in Fort Wayne, a son of Ivan and Mary A. (Smith) Blaugh.
His formative years were spent in rural Columbia City.
Dennis graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1969.
On Nov. 23, 1985, he married Marsha Stier. They made their home in Columbia City and Naples, Fla.
He was employed at C&R Plating DBA KC Jones as CEO, making plans for his retirement in early June, 2012 with 43 years of service.
Jerry Lee Armel, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died April 5, 2012.
He was born in Columbia City, Ind. Nov. 11, 1933 to George and Gladys Armel. He moved to Arizona in 1957.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Armel; his sons, Lon and Jon Armel, and daughter, Suzanne Unger; and a sister, Gloria Aumsbaugh, of Columbia City.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 13 at Camelback Bible Church, 3900 East Stanford Dr. Paradise Valley, Arizona 85253. Viewing will be at 10 a.m. Burial to be for immediate family members only at Green Acres Cemetery in Scottsdale.
Arthur Berton Kolberg, 90, of Syracuse, Ind. passed away on April 6, 2012 at the IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born Nov. 4, 1921 in Syracuse, Ind. to Arthur C. and Violet Anna Katherine (Prentice) Kolberg.
He was a 1941 graduate of Cromwell High School. On May 22, 1948 he married Margaret Eileen LeCount, who preceded him in death in 2008. He was a lifelong area resident and retired as a farmer and school bus driver. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and member of the D.A.V in Goshen.
