Vance Cary Holloway, 61, of South Bend, died July 2, 2012.Â Mr. Holloway was born on July 7, 1950, in Fort Wayne.Â
He was the son of the late Max C. and Mary V. (Herwick) Holloway and resided for many years in Columbia City with his parents.
Mr. Holloway enjoyed listening to all types of music, but he was especially fond of piano music.Â He enjoyed strolling on the beaches in Florida.Â He brought joy, love, and laughter to his family.
Robert A. â€śBobâ€ť Sandager, 73, of Goose Lake, died at 11:14 a.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, in the emergency room of Parkview Whitley Hospital. He had been in failing health.
He was born Sept. 25, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minn., a son of Jerome Walter and Ethel Edna (Hodgman) Sandager. His formative years were spent in the Minneapolis area where he graduated from high school.
At the age of 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Alaska and two tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1969.
Norman E. Johnson, 77, also lovingly known by family and friends as â€śGene,â€ť â€śStrawberry,â€ť and â€śBoz,â€ť of Fort Wayne, died from heart failure after back surgery at 1:53 a.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Born March 18, 1935, in Richland Township, he was the son of Leonard and Mary (Barr) Johnson.
He grew up in Noble County where he graduated from Albion High School with the class of 1953. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
DeWayne E. â€śDeeâ€ť Jackson, 80, of rural Larwill, died at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012, at I.U.-Goshen Hospital while surrounded by family members.
He was born July 20, 1931, in Monroe County, Mich. He was raised by Florence (Smith) Elston in Bluffton. He graduated from Bluffton High School in 1950.
He worked at Magnavox. For nearly 50 years, he was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 103, working as an asphalt plant operator with Daily Asphalt, Reith & Reilly. He retired in 1993 from S.E. Johnson.
Mary Elizabeth Sannan, 87, of Fort Wayne, died on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Sannan was born in Liberty Center on Sept. 7, 1924, to the late Harry Bennett and Carrie Elizabeth (Murray) Hubbard.
She married Charles R. Sannan and he preceded her in death.
Mary was a waitress for many years at Alâ€™s Restaurant in Waynedale and Bill Caradoneâ€™s Italian Restaurant in Fort Wayne. She also worked at Magnavox in Fort Wayne.
She attended the Waynedale United Methodist Church and loved playing bingo, going camping, cooking and flower gardening.
Doris Pauline Lewark, 82 of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Lewark was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Paul B. and Mary F. (Mertz) Cox. On July 24, 1948, she married Walter E. Lewark in Roanoke. He preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2005.
She graduated from Roanoke High School as valedictorian of the class of 1947, worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, was devoted to her husband and family, was an animal lover, especially dogs and cats, and enjoyed painting.
