Chester Napier, 80

Chester “Chet” “Bill” Napier, 80, of Columbia City, died at 11:50 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor where he had been a resident since Feb. 24, 2010.
He was born July 25, 1932, in Hazard, Ky., a son of Otis and Florence (Fugate) Napier.
His formative years were spent in Kentucky.
In 1950, he moved to Collins and in 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 30, 1962.
He worked for B & O Railroad in Albion, Franke Plating for more than seven years and retired in 1995 from Dana Weatherhead with 28 years of service.

Cecil Crawford, Jr., 86

Cecil Crawford Jr., 86, of Loon Lake, died at 6:56 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born on Aug. 19, 1926, in Whitley County, a son of George Cecil and Gladys Fern (Traster) Crawford. His formative years were spent in Whitley County. He completed his education at Coesse High School.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
