Laurell E. â€śTuneyâ€ť Leitch, 82, a resident of rural LaOtto and a life-long resident of Green Township, passed away at 12:32 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne following an extended illness.
Mr. Leitch was born on Dec. 15, 1929, in Kendallville, a son of Noah T. and Edna (Diffendarfer) Leitch.
The surviving relatives include his wife Mary Ann, two daughters, a sister, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Max R. Foor, 91, of Arcola, passed away at 3:43 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Ashton Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center, Fort Wayne.
Born on July 11, 1921, in Gladwin, Mich. he was the son of Ericus E. and Edna Grace (Robinson) Foor.
Max was raised in Etna Township, Whitley County where he attended school and then graduated from Wolf Lake High School with the Class of 1940.
On June 28, 1942, he married Imogene â€śJeanâ€ť E. Heintzelman at Ormas Baptist Church.
Donald W. â€śDukeâ€ť Martin, 78, of Big Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Born on May 10, 1934 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Donald Martin and Mildred (Hartman) Martin-Baker.
On June 4, 1955, he married Alice (Harrison) Martin at North Highlands Church of Christ, Fort Wayne.
He worked as a machinist for 40 years with Kunkle Valve in Fort Wayne, retiring in 1994.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and sports, especially his Chicago Cubs, Colts and Indiana basketball.
Hazel Irene Richey, 92, of Columbia City, passed away at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City.
Born Dec. 16, 1919, in South Whitley, she was the daughter of Adam and Mary (Beeks-North) Parrett.
She was born in South Whitley and later moved to Columbia City where she resided the remainder of her lifetime. She attended Columbia City High School.
On June 9, 1936, she married Raymond H. Richey at Larwill United Methodist.
Joan M. Clapp, 83, of Columbia City, died at 5:35 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
She was born July 19, 1929, on the family farm south of Larwill, a daughter of C. Earl and Hazel L. (Schuh) Norris.
Her formative years were spent in Larwill. She attended Larwill High School where she was a cheerleader her junior year and graduated with the Class of 1947. She then attended Wayne University Beauty College, Fort Wayne.
Ellie Olivia Walter, 3-month-old daughter of Marc and Brooke Walter, died unexpectedly Friday morning, Dec. 6, 2012.
She was born Aug. 16, 2012 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Marc R. and Brooke N. (Weber) Walter.
H. Ruth Pickett, 96, of Fort Wayne, went to be in the arms of Jesus Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Covington Manor.
Born Dec. 12 1915, in Fort Wayne, she was employed as a registered nurse for more than 30 years at Lutheran Hospital, serving 25 years in labor and delivery.
She was a 1937 graduate of Lutheran Hospital of Nursing, former member of West Creighton Christian Church, member of First Christian Church and former member of Lutheran Hospital Alumni Association.
George Arthur Bauer, 80, of Columbia City, passed away at 12:36 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
Born on May 10, 1932, in South Bend, he was the son of John Lewis and Alice E. (Hall) Bauer.
He attended Thorncreek School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
A lifetime Whitley County resident, he worked for Schenkelâ€™s Dairy, Huntington, in the maintenance and sanitation departments from 1974 until his retirement July 27, 1995. From 1949-74 he worked at Columbia Dairy in Columbia City.
Gayle E. Schinbeckler, 92, of Columbia City, passed away at 10:44 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at her home.
Born Nov. 12, 1920, in Hope, Kan., she was the daughter of Gustave H. and Sarah E. (Longbine) Brumbaugh.
At age 14, while in the seventh grade, she and her family moved from Kansas to Whitley County.
She graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1938.
On Dec. 24, 1939, she married Marshall C. Schinbeckler at First Church of God, Columbia City.
Kay A. Kistler, 76, formerly of Columbia City, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Warsaw Meadows Care Center, Warsaw where she had been a resident since 2003.
She was born Aug. 25, 1936, in Warsaw, a daughter of Floyd F. and Gladys E. (Kilgore) Kistler.
Surviving relatives include three children, six grandchildren, one brother, one niece and one nephew.
A private interment service at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton will be held at a later date.
