Dorothy Wade, 89

COLUMBIA CITY — Dorothy A. Wade, 89, of Noble Township, Noble County, joined her Lord at 5:14 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Linda, where she had been a resident for the past two years.
She was born Dec. 31, 1922, in Three Oaks, Mich., a daughter of Clarence and Zepha (Nicloy) Barnes.
After graduating from Three Oaks High School in 1940, she attended Spring Arber Junior College and graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1949.
She began her 37-year nursing career at Whitley County Memorial Hospital in 1950, retiring in 1987.

Nancy Heick, 73

LEBANON — Nancy C. (Steill) Heick, 73, died April 29, 2012, at her home in Lebanon.
She was born Aug. 10, 1938, to the late John and Edna (Schmidt) Steill.
On June 14, 1958, she was married to Earl J. “E.J.” Heick from Lafayette. He survives.

Gladys Bartling, 90

Gladys Mae (Londt) Clark Bartling, 90, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at Shell Pointe, Fort Myers, Fla.
Gladys was born July 10, 1921, in Columbia City.
She graduated from Larwill High School in 1939, and from Warsaw Beauty College. In 1943, she married Gale Clark of North Manchester while he was stationed in Miami.
They lived in Florida, California, New Mexico, Arkansas, and Indiana. Wherever he was stationed, she worked as a beautician.

William McCoy, 75

ALBION — William G. McCoy, 75, of Albion, died at 1:55 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Avalon Village in Ligonier.
He was born Feb. 27, 1937, southwest of Albion, a son of James Ralph and Freida L. (Gaerte) McCoy.
On April 17, 1970, he was married to Daisy M. Clouse. She preceded him in death on June 7, 1998.

Jesse Gibson, 70

Jesse Leroy Gibson, 70, of Columbia City, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Warsaw Meadows Care Center, Warsaw.
He was born Aug. 24, 1941, in Columbia City, the son of Clifford M. and Beulah M. (Zolman) Gibson.
He attended school in Whitley County and he owned and operated Gibson’s Body Shop, Columbia City.

Herbert Brooks, 77

April 27, 2012

Herbert Raymond Brooks, 77, a resident of Wolf Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at his home.
He was born in North Judson on Nov. 4, 1934, a son of Raymond and Clara (Katchke) Brooks.
As a young man he served with the U. S. Army.
He was married to Patricia Maciejack. She preceded him in death in 1978.

Tyler Geisleman, 26

Tyler Jeffrey Geisleman, 26, of Urbana, passed away at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Born on July 1, 1985, in Huntington, he was the son of Jeff P. and Maria J. (Rupel) Geisleman.
He spent his lifetime in Huntington, Wabash and Whitley Counties, graduating from Huntington North High School.
He first worked at Warner Electric and currently was employed at Reelcraft both of Columbia City.

Kathleen Bower, 65

Kathleen J. Bower, 65, of South Whitley, passed away at 8:15 am Thursday, April 26, 2012, at her residence.
Born Dec. 4, 1946, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Keith and Helen (Joy) Herr.
She spent her lifetime in South Whitley, graduating from South Whitley High School with the class of 1964.
She married Earl E. Bower on Sept. 5, 1964, at her parents’ home in South Whitley.
She was a homemaker and a former member of Troy Presbyterian Church. She also was a member for more than 25 years of Delts in South Whitley and Columbia City.

Oma Tennant, 92

FORT WAYNE — Oma Isabelle (Reeg) Tennant, 92, or Fort Wayne, and formerly of Larwill, died Tuesday April 17, 2012, at St. Anne’s Nursing Home.
She was born April 3, 1920, a daughter of the late Frank and Rozzie (Bentz) Reeg.
She was married to Dr. David Lewis Tennant on Nov. 9, 1940, and he preceded her in death Feb. 5, 2002.
She was a graduate of Larwill High School and was a member of Wayne Street Methodist Church.
Oma was a stay-at-home mother and was involved in her children’s many activities.

Vera Shively, 80

SOUTH WHITLEY — Vera Lois (Fritz) Shively, 80, of Mission, Texas formerly of South Whitley, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, at 3 a.m.
She was born Sept. 10, 1931, in Warsaw, a daughter of Ralph and Albertha (Steffan) Fritz.
In 1949, she graduated from Larwill High School. On Aug. 18, 1950, she married Donald G. Shively, who survives.
They moved to Indianapolis in 1956 and she retired from Stokely-Van Camp in 1976.
They returned to the Fritz family farm south of Larwill. In 1990, she became a resident of Texas and made her home in Mission, Texas.
