John E. Meyers, 55, of Whitley County, died at 11:07 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Parkview Oaks where he had been a resident since May.
He was born May 1, 1957, in Fort Wayne, a son of Edward T. and Alice F. (Maguire) Meyers.
His formative years were spent in Fort Wayne. He graduated from Northrop High School and received his Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in Lafayette.
Alex James Trabert, 23, passed away at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at the scene of an accident in Indianapolis.
Born March 24, 1989, in Columbia City, Alex had been residing in Franklin for the past year.
He is survived by his parents, Walter Richard and Carla Jeanne (Coonrod) Trabert, Jr. of Columbia City; brothers, Jason Trabert of Columbia City, Bryan Trabert of Ballwin, Mo. and Eric Trabert of Muncie; grandparents, Walter and Julia Trabert, Sr. of Columbia City and Gilbert L. Coonrod of Harlan.
Ronald Lee Coolman, 69, of Columbia City, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at his home.
Born Aug. 26, 1943, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Donald Ray and Mary Lou (Raber) Coolman.
As a child he lived in Indiana, Arizona and California and he spent his adult lifetime in Roanoke and Whitley County areas. He attended Columbia City Joint High School.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964-68 during the Vietnam War.
Phillip Marin Dingus, 61, of Whitley County, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at 2:20 p.m. in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born Nov. 28, 1950, in Hite, Ky. to Lacy and Pauline (Shepherd) Dingus.
He has lived in Whitley County since 1963. He previously worked for Larwill Products as a wire cutter.
Bonita E. Gamble, 89, of Columbia City, passed away at 12:13 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
Born Jan. 9, 1923, in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Homer J. and Hulda E. (Auer) Ummel.
She was a lifetime resident of Columbia City and graduated from Washington Center High School with the Class of 1941.
Marilyn M. Krom, 69, of High Lake, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at her home. She had been in failing health.
She was born May 14, 1943, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Herbert and Anna Mae (Maas) Alles.
Her formative years were spent in Jefferson Township. She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School.
In 1966, she moved to Wilshire, OH until 1989 when she moved to Big Cedar Lake. She was employed 15 years at Noble Wire, retiring in 2005.
On Oct. 27, 2007, she married Rick L. Krom. They have always made their home together at High Lake.
Ethel Belle Smith, 86, of Columbia City, died at 1:32 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since March 2008.
She was born Feb. 24, 1926, in Portland, a daughter of William Henry and Estella May (Nickerson) Miller. Her formative years were spent in Portland where she attended Mount Zion School.
On Oct. 7, 1944, she was united in marriage to Herman E. Smith. They made their home in Waynedale until 1977 when they moved to Old Lake. Mr. Smith died Nov. 28, 2001. In 2002, Ethel Belle moved to Columbia City.
Patricia J. Tucker passed away Nov. 5, 2012, at 5:05 p.m. She was born July 6, 1931.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, she traveled the country doing various jobs and meeting interesting people. She came home to spend her last years with family.
She kept her spirit and sense of humor to the end. Words can never express the thankfulness and gratitude to Hospice of Parkview.
Surviving relatives include three loving siblings, Robert Tucker of Tavares, Fla., Gloria (Jack) Mullett of Columbia City and Garthena Tucker of Fort Wayne.
David L. Sleighter, 55, of Columbia City, passed away at 5:28 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
Born Dec. 18, 1956, in Columbia City, he was the son of David C. and Mary M. (Busz) Sleighter.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, two sisters, a half-sister, four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Janel Sleighter.
Carl E. Sheets, 93, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor Inc., Columbia City.
Born on May 23, 1919, in Jefferson Towsnship, he was the son of William and Myrta M. (Boney) Sheets.
Surviving relatives include his two sons, daughter, three brothers and several grand, great and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to noon. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
