William Tarleton, Jr., 88

William “Bill” T. Tarleton, Jr., 88, of Columbia City, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
Born March 6, 1925, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, he was the son of William Sr. and Florence B. (Thompson) Tarleton.
He lived in Akron, Ohio, then to Fort Wayne before moving to Whitley County in 1969.
He attended Brown High School in Cambridge, Ohio and received his GED with the Military and National Radio School in Cleveland, Ohio.
He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and the Korean War.

Waundean Stangland, 87

Waundean Stangland, 87, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday Sept. 29, 2013.
Born Feb. 17, 1926, in Wolf Lake, she was the daughter of Neil and Loleta (Haney) Hile.
She attended and graduated from Wolf Lake High School with the Class of 1944.
On June 9, 1945, she married Robert Stangland at Merriam Christian Chapel, Merriam.
Prior to her retirement, she and her husband worked in the Columbia City area and raised their children on the family farm in Etna Troy Township.
She most recently attended West Point Trinity United Methodist Church.

David Kuehner, Sr., 72

David A. Kuehner, Sr., 72, of Columbia City, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at his home in Columbia City.
Mr. Kuehner was born Feb. 27, 1941 in Fort Wayne, a son of Joesph and Lenora (Wynnican) Kuehner.
He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne, and graduated from Central High School in 1959.
On June 18, 1974, he was married in Fort Wayne to Martha Scott, and moved from Fort Wayne to Columbia City where he had lived since 1975.
He was employed at Dana Corp. Syracuse, and retired in 2004 after 30 years of service.
Mr. Kuehner was a member of the UAW local 1405.
