Louis Salgado, 87, of Columbia City, died at 5:40 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Parkview Oaks where he had been a resident since September 2009.
He was born March 23, 1926, in Houston, Texas, a son of Emencao and Maria (Martinez) Salgado.
On April 15, 1957, he was united in marriage to Trinidad Mendoza. They moved to Whitley County from San Antonio, Texas, and began working on the Ruby Campbell farm and in the mid 1960s to the Denzil Schrader farm and began work. Mrs. Salgado died April 16, 1992.
Isaac Moran Hyser, 5 month old son of Steven E. and Andrea (Elliott) Hyser of Churubusco, passed away unexpectedly at 5:55 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
John â€śJoeâ€ť J. Shaw, 71, of Churubusco, died Nov. 16, 2013.
Born April 6, 1942, in Kannapolis, N.C., he was a son of the late Francis E. Shaw, and Bertha Mae Fairchild.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, was a member of American Legion Post #499 and retired in 2005 from Zollner. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel.
Isabelle I Miller, 99, passed away Sunday Nov. 17, 2013, at Renaissance Village.
She was born in Millcreek to Norman and Rosa Bell ( Hawn) Pratt.
She worked Blue Bell in Columbia City, Bowser Corporation in Fort Wayne and retired from Wayne High School in the kitchen as a baker.
She was a lifetime bowler and a senior center participant and memberships include the Wayne High School Kitchen Group.
Max S. Myers, 72, a resident of Churubusco and prominent Churubusco businessman, passed away at 4:55 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Myers was born March 14, 1941, in Wolf Lake, a son of J. Stanley and Lucille (Jones) Myers, and spent his formative years in Churubusco. He graduated from Churubusco High School in 1959 and earned his bachelorâ€™s degree from the Indiana University School of Business in 1964.
On March 24, 1962, he was married in Churubusco to Juliann â€śJudyâ€ť Witham of Huntertown.
Lt. Col. Robert L. Walker, 92, of Columbia City, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 13, 2013, at his home in Columbia City.
Born Dec. 25, 1920, in Huntington, he was the son of Leslie A. and Elsie M. (Ramsey) Walker.
Raised in Huntington, Robert graduated from Huntington High School with the Class of 1938, and began working at Caswell-Runion.
On Jan. 14, 1942, he married Juanita Glenn Welches in Fort Wayne. Bob and Juanita lived in Fort Wayne until they bought a farm near Tri-Lakes in 1954, raising their family there until moving to Columbia City in 1992.
