Eugene H. âWhiteyâ Stewart, 89, of South Whitley, died at 1 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born Dec. 19, 1923, in Lawrence County, a son of the late Delbert C. and Nellie (Walton) Stewart.
His formative years were spent in Mitchell, Ind. and later Detroit, Mich. He completed his education with a GED while in Detroit.
Betty L. Anderson, 84, of Columbia City, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013.
Born on Aug. 16, 1928, in Kimmel, she was the daughter of Chris H. and Dorothy Bernice (Ringler) Lehman.
She is a lifetime resident of Whitley County. She attended Kimmell schools for eight years and Columbia City High School.
On January 21, 1984, she married Donald B. Anderson at First Church of God. She worked at Millers Merry Manor, Columbia City with 10 years of service. She was a member of First Church of God, Columbia City.
Donald J. Wooden, 92, of Columbia City, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Parkview Hospital in Columbia City.
He is survived by one daughter, Kathleen (Bruce) Hazelet of Columbia City; three grandchildren, Ellen, Rachel & Russell, all of Columbia City.
Mickey Allen Zumbrun, 73, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his home. Born on June 16, 1939 in Wolf Lake, he was the son of Timothy L. and Lulu (Clingerman) Zumbrun. He graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1957 and served in the U.S. Army.
On July 11, 1964, he married Dianne F. Ruckman at Larwill United Methodist Church. He has been a Whitley County lifetime resident and farmer. He worked at Dana Weatherhead for 35 years. He was a member of Weatherhead Pioneer Club and Wolf Lake United Methodist Church.
Norma Jean Munk, 82, of Albion, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Born February 3, 1930, in Noble County, she was the daughter of Marlo and Eunice (Kiester) Stangland.
A lifetime resident of Noble County, she graduated from Wolf Lake High School with the Class of 1948.
On Nov. 28, 1948, she married James W. Munk at Wolf Lake Baptist Church. She retired from Dana Weatherhead, Columbia City in 1989.
Doris W. Craig, 79, a resident of rural Churubusco and widow of Donald E. Craig, passed away at 4:09 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013. Mrs. Craig was born on July 21, 1933, in Allen County, a daughter of Charles and Vera (Bair) Dafforn.
The surviving relatives include a daughter, two sons, a sister, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Pastor Dwayne Berna of the Merriam Christian Chapel, officiating.
Robert F. Strupp , 83, of Columbia City, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Renaissance Village in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he worked as a communications installer with General Telephone for 22 years, retiring in 1991.
He had been a resident of Woodburn for 15 years. He was a member of American Legion post 377 of Woodburn.
Surviving relatives include his son, John (Melinda) Strupp of Columbia City, grandchildren, Joshua Eby, Sonya Eby, James Eby and Jarrod Eby and a great-granddaughter, Cassey Woods.
Mary Lee Campbell, 79, formerly of Columbia City, died at 1:58 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. She was born Oct. 3, 1933, in Kent City, Mich. a daughter of Harry B. and Leona May (Riddle) Kelly. She graduated from Kent City High School.
James E. Bennett, 64, of Watson Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at the William W. Backus Hospital with his family at his side.
On June 30, 1948, he was born in Columbia City, the son of Charles E. Bennett and the late Dorothy (Rock) Bennett.
James grew up in Indiana, graduated from Columbia City Joint High School and attended Purdue University for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1968, serving as a machinistâs mate aboard the USS Archerfish.
Ralph âWhitieâ Paul Huett, 90, of West Lafayette and formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away at 10:19 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Indiana Veteranâs Home.
Born Nov. 4, 1922, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Frederick and Irmgard (Stephan) Huett.
Survivors include his two daughters, a son and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
