M. Irene Smith, 91, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday July 30, 2013, at Millers Merry Manor.
Born Aug. 28, 1921, in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Avery M. and Florence (Kiser) George.
She attended Grace Elementary School and graduated from Jefferson Center High School with the Class of 1940.
Irene was a lifelong Whitley County resident, worked on the family farm and was also a homemaker. She was a member of the Oak Grove Church of God in Columbia City.
Milford-Joann A. Huber, 89, formerly of Goshen, passed away Monday evening at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare, where she had been since January 2010.
She was born in Goshen March 24, 1924, to Ellis and Joella (Mishler) Detwiler.
She married Melvin G. Huber Nov. 21, 1942, at the First Brethren Church parsonage. He died Sept. 7, 2010.
Martha Virginia Meier, 91, went to be with her Lord at 2:15 am, Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at her home at Round Lake. She was born Nov. 16, 1921, in Gastonia, N.C., a daughter of James Andrew and Mary Myrtle Gladden Cobb. Her formative years were spent in North Carolina where she graduated from the Lowell High School in 1939.
Roland Glen Grable, 64, of Anderson, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013.
He is the son of the late Robert Gene and Shirlely Martha Grable.
He was formerly of Columbia City, and was employed at Dana Weatherhead for 23 years.
He served in the U.S. Army for three years, stationed in Germany and Vietnam.
Bernard H. Trombley, 79, of Columbia City, died Tuesday evening, July 23, 2013 at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born June 27, 1934, in Sault Ste Marie, Mich., a son of Orville and Helena (McGuire) Trombley. His formative years were spent in Sault Ste Marie.
On June 26, 1954, he was united in marriage to Augustina J. Vigneaux. They made their home in Sault Ste Marie for two years then they moved to Fort Wayne.
In 1957, they moved to Bear Lake, Noble County and in 1995 to Columbia City.
Gloria J. âButchâ Glass, 80, of Columbia City, died at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at The Oaks, Columbia City where she had been a resident for the past 11 years.
She was born May 4, 1933, in Ashland, Ohio the daughter of the late Willard J. and Josephine M. (Homsher) Glass. Her formative years were spent in Ashland until the family moved to TriLakes, Columbia City. She graduated from Columbia City High School in 1951.
She completed a Bachelorâs of Business Administration at Valparaiso University. During her college years, she worked as an operator for United Telephone.
Thomas W. Hart, 75, of Kendallville, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at 7:45 a.m. in his residence. He was a lifetime area resident.
Mr. Hart honorable served in the National Guard from 1956 to 1960.
He worked at Newnam Foundry, Kendallville Furniture, and retired as plant operator for the City of Kendallville Water Plant.
He was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Wolcottville.
Tom enjoyed southern gospel music, carpentry work, mowing, gardening, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He dearly loved his grandchildren.
Mary Ellen Rudisel-Jordan, 61, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013, as the result of injuries received in an vehicle accident.
Mary Ellen was born July 23, 1951, in South Bend, to Raymond and Mary Ann (Summy) Gradeless.
She was salutatorian in the 1969 graduating class of LaVille High School. She attended Manchester College and in 1995 she earned her degree from Ball State Universityâs Architectural School.
Martha A. âMartyâ White, 66, of South Whitley, passed away, Wednesday, July 10, 2013. She was born Aug. 2, 1946, in Fort Wayne to the late, Rudolph and Lillie (Buffenbarger) Kyler.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Consumer Family Sciences from Purdue University and worked for the Department of Child Services as a Legal Clerk before retiring after 37 years.
She was a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Fort Wayne Sport Club and enjoyed flowers, owls, amber glass and garage sales.
Guy H. Wilson, 84, of Mattawan, Mich.passed away at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Rose Arbor Hospice Home, Kalamazoo, Mich.
Born June 30, 1929 in Albion, he was the son of Frank C. and Hazel (Owen) Wilson.
He attended Albion High School. On June 14, 1952, he married June E. Rowland in Albuquerque, N.M.
After 22 years of service, he retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1969. A former Indiana resident, he lived in Michigan since 1969. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, American Legion, Eagles, Kalamazoo Clown Club and Order of Eastern Star.
