Paulanna Y. â€śPepperâ€ť Kirtley, 94, retired co-publisher of the Tri County Truth in Churubusco and widow of James H. Kirtley, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at the Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. She had been in declining health for several months.
Mrs. Kirtley was born Dec. 14, 1918, in Rochester, the daughter of Paul S. and Catherine (Clarey) Blacketor. As a girl she moved to Huntington with her parents and graduated from Huntington High School.
Robert E. Braden, 82, formerly of Burr Oak, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Columbia City, where he had been a resident since August 2006.
He was born April 16, 1931, in Noble County, a son of Robert S. and Eldora V. (Coverstone) Braden. His formative years were spent in Noble County. He graduated from Wolf Lake High School.
On June 11, 1952, he was inducted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War until his honorable discharge May 26, 1954.
Kaitlyn â€śKatieâ€ť Rose Burlage, 20, of Columbia City, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at her home.
Born June 20, 1993, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of James D. and Renee L. (Eichler) Burlage.
She attended Columbia City High School graduating with the Class of 2012 and attended IPFW University, Fort Wayne.
She was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church and was a volunteer at Erinâ€™s House, Fort Wayne.
