Donald Curtis, 79

Donald Paul Curtis, 79, of Columbia City, died at 2:55 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital where he was admitted Tuesday.
He was born Jan. 4, 1934, in Fort Wayne, a son of Wayne Bernard and Mildred Miriam (Eber) Curtis. His formative years were spent in Fort Wayne. He graduated from North Side High School.
A truck driver, he began his employment with Kroger, later establishing the Baerfield Travel Trailer business.

Cheryl Druley, 47

Cheryl A. Druley, age 47, of Columbia City, passed away at 3:41 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, after becoming suddenly ill at her residence.
Born Aug. 21, 1966, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Lloyd Owen and Jayne (Fry) Druley.
She was a graduate of Columbia City High School with the Class of 1984 and she attended IPFW, Parkview Nursing School and lastly Ivy Tech in Warsaw.
Cheryl spent most of her lifetime in Columbia City, however she did live in Texas, Germany and Warsaw.

Susan Sharpe, 59

Susan Sharpe, 59, of Huntington, passed away at 4:03 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at her home.
Susan was the owner of Canine Companion for more than 12 years. She was a certified service dog and therapy dog trainer. Susan was a columnist for The Post & Mail. Her expertise on animal behavior was published twice a month.
Susan was born Jan. 16, 1954, in Wabash County, the daughter of Donald and Wanda (Morford) Dreyer.
She graduated in 1972 from Huntington North High School. Susan married Ronald Sharpe Nov. 23, 1977, in St. Charles, Missouri.

Russell Fisher, 86

September 26, 2013

Russell Lowell Fisher, 86, of Tri Lakes, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 24, 2013, at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Spring Grove, Indiana a son of Preston B. and Elizabeth C. (Miller) Fisher. His formative years were spent in Richmond. He graduated from Richmond High School and attended Earlham College.
From 1945 until 1948 he served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps.
In 1951, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Cail. They made their home in Richmond until 1956 when they moved to New Castle.

Bill Burnworth, 90

Bill G. Burnworth, of Kimmell, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at 4 p.m. surrounded by his loving family at his home on Harper Lake.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1930, in Noble County, and was the son of Melvin and Catherine (Buckles) Burnworth.
Mr. Burnworth’s mother died in 1939, and in 1940, at the age of nine, he went to live with his aunt and uncle, Fred and Hazel (Buckles) Howard, who raised him. Bill graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1949.

Lucas Junk, 2

Lucas Michael Junk, 2, lovingly known as “Monkeybutt,” passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013.
Born in Columbia City, Lucas was a good, pure, kind, and loving boy. He loved his monkey, baseball, PBS kids, the remote control and baseball movies.
Lucas enjoyed construction equipment and loved to sing. He knew all the words to “Jesus Loves Me,” “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” and “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”

Joe Long, 91

September 23, 2013

Joe E. Long, 91, formerly of Columbia City, died Saturday, September 21, 2013, at Kindred Health Care Facility in Newark, Ohio.
He was born Feb. 10, 1922. in Avilla, a son of Milo and Rosetta V. (Rider) Long. He spent most of his life in Noble and Whitley counties and graduated from North Webster High School.
On April 26, 1942, he was united in marriage to Allene P. Cole and they just celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this year.

Jim Rowe, Sr., 64

James E.”Jim” Rowe, Sr., 64, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Born May 4, 1949, in Wabash, he was the son of Kern and Chloe M. (Ferguson) Rowe.
He graduated from Manchester High School with the Class of 1967. On July 24, 1970, he married Brinda F. Collins in Sherwood, Mich.
He worked at Essex Wire and Cable for 32 years, retiring in 2000.

Everett Osbun, 86

September 19, 2013

Everett W. Osbun, 86, a former resident of rural Churubusco in Noble County, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.
Mr. Osbun was born in Auburn July 11, 1927, a son of Clyde Jay and Lilly Marie (Rohm) Osbun.
The surviving relatives include his two children, two sisters-in-law, three grandsons, three step-grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Churubusco Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Paul D. White, officiating.

Aimee Linvill, 90

Aimee Elizabeth Linvill, 90, of Columbia City, passed away at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor.
She was born Dec. 6, 1922, in Seattle, Wa., a daughter of Carson Page and Euna J. (Malcolm) Perry.
In 1935, her family moved to the Perry Homestead in Huntertown from Seattle. She graduated from Huntertown High School in 1941.
On Sept. 30, 1943, she was united in marriage to Marshall H. Linvill. They made their home in Smith Township.
Mr. Linvill died Feb. 7, 1982. In 1983, Aimee moved into Columbia City.
A homemaker, she also worked at General Electric for 23 years.
