Brenda L. Vance, 56, Rochester, Indiana , died Aug. 25, 2013, at 4:46 p.m. at her residence.
She was born May 18, 1957, in Wabash, to Bill and Pat (Rife) Vance.
She worked at Hart, Schafner and Marx for 25 years, McDonalds, and spent many years as a Home Caregiver.
She attended the Church of Latter Day Saints, Logansport.
Brenda truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, bike riding, garage sales, and camping.
Eleanor J. Swinehart, 82, a resident of rural Churubusco and widow of George R. Swinehart, passed away Monday afternoon, Aug. 26, 2013, in Lewisville, Tx.
She had become unexpectedly ill in February while visiting her daughter in Lantana, Tx. Mrs. Swinehart was born in Fort Wayne Aug. 17, 1931, a daughter of Eli and Alice (Lochner) Nicolet. She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne, and graduated from Northside High School in 1949.
Murray Michael Graves, 63, of Claypool, passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at 9:01 p.m. at Parkview North Hospital of Fort Wayne.
He was born Feb. 3, 1950, in Fort Wayne, to Murray E. and Mary E. (Sheets) Graves.
He was raised in Larwill, and graduated from Larwill High School in 1968 where he was an outstanding basketball player. He began working for R.R. Donnelley and Sons in June of 1968 and retired in February of 2012 after 44 years of service. He loved NASCAR, coaching and watching his son Chad in baseball.
JoAnn M. Paulus, 85, of Columbia City, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City.
Born March 27, 1928, in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Oren E. and Fern (Kyler) Sroufe.
She lived in Whitley County her entire life. She graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1947.
On Oct. 2, 1988, she married Leon Paulus at Merriam Christian Chapel. She worked for Whitley Products for more than 20 years and Essex for 15 years.
Gregory Wayne McKinley, 57, of Peru and a former Columbia City resident passed away at 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Born Nov. 30, 1955, in Winchester, he was the son of James Melvin and Vonne Ann (Hoover) McKinley.
He was raised in Columbia City and graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1974.
Jack Julian Fletcher, 62, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at his farm.
Born July 19, 1951, in Columbia City, he was the son of George M. Fletcher and Mary (Anderson) Fletcher.
He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1969. He was a livestock and grain farmer. He was a member of St. Matthewâ€™s United Methodist Columbia City and Francis Slocum Trail Riders.
Dolores Jean Metzger, 82, Noblesville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Maple Park Village in Westfield, following a long battle with kidney failure.
She was born to Arthur and Luella (Kislia) Rondeau on Oct. 2, 1930, in Janesville, Wisc.
After graduating in 1949 from Columbia City Joint High School in Columbia City, Dolores worked at United Telephone Company of Columbia City as a switchboard operator.
She married Marvin Metzger on Oct. 7, 1950, in Columbia City. She was a homemaker and was very active in Happy Homemakers Club of Thorncreek in Columbia City.
Terry Quinn Marshall Sr., 75, of Columbia City, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Saturday Aug. 17, 2013, at his residence.
Born Aug. 30, 1937, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Overton Quinn Marshall and Evelyn Margurite (Huegenard)Murray.
He graduated from North Side High School with the Class of 1957.
J. Richard â€śDickâ€ť Cira, 83, of Columbia City, passed away at his residence with his loving family surrounding him at 4:35 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013.
He was born Jan. 8, 1930, in South Bend, the son of Don L. and Alice Marie (Hickling) Cira.
He was raised in South Bend and graduated from South Bend Riley High School with the Class of 1948. He then graduated from Hanover College, Hanover, with a Bachelor of Science in Education and received his Masters Degree at Ball State and St. Francis Universities in Guidance and Administration.
Harold Kenneth May, Sr., 94, of Bennington, Oklahoma, and formally of rural Churubusco, passed away at 2:33 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
Mr. May was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Greenville, S.C., a son of Elzie R.and Nettie (Hames) May. He spent his formative years in Greenville, S.C., and graduated from Clemson Universityâ€™s high school program.
After graduation he served during World War II in the U.S. Army.
He was married to Maxine Winningham and moved to Whitley County from Greenville, S.C. in 1953.
