Rosalie Steller, 85 passed away Jan. 9, 2013, in Meza, Ariz. Graveside services will be held May 22 at 10 a.m. at the South Whitley Cemetery. DeMoney-Grimes Counryside Park Funeral Home is handling the services.
Shirley Ann Murphy, 78, of Columbia City passed away at 9:34 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Millerâs Merry Manor Inc., Columbia City. Born March 23, 1935, in Muncie, she was the daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth (Doth) Tucker.
The memorial service for L.M. âLeeâ Kilgore, 97, who died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, has been set for 4 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with a reception following at Smith & Sons Coach Room. Preferred memorials are to Community Bible Church.
Glenn âSpikeâ R. Martin, 87, of Columbia City, passed away at 8:51 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at his home. Born March 25, 1926, in Etna, he was the son of Chester Edward and Nita Gertrude (Keister) Martin.
He lived his entire life in Etna, graduating from North Webster High School with the Class of 1944. On Dec. 30, 1949, he married Boneta âBonnieâ Vesta Coverstone. Together they spent 63 years in Etna. He worked at Weatherhead, Columbia City, as a set-up operator for 30 years, retiring in 1987. Glenn was an avid Cubs baseball fan and IU basketball fan, and farming was his life.
Diane S. Jordan, 68, of Huntertown, passed away at 3:27 am, Monday, May 13, 2013, at her daughterâs home. Born March 3, 1945, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Kenneth C. and Dorothy L. (Harmeyer) Young.
She lived in Fort Wayne and then moved to Whitley County as a child. She graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1963. She worked as a waitress at various locations in Whitley County, Tri-Lake Tavern most recently.
Carey M. Maggert Sr, 62, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born in Wolf Lake, Carey was a self employed truck driver. He was a NASCAR fan who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
June M. James, 87, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, May 11, 2013, with her loving daughters at her side. Born in Assumption, Ill., she was the daughter of the late David and Ola (Davis) Cotner.
She was a member of Woodburn Missionary Church and a faithful prayer warrior. The Hope Center was blessed with the dozens of baby quilts she so enjoyed making for them. She had worked for the old Woodburn telephone company and retired in 2006 from the staff of the Woodburn Missionary Church after 20 years of service.
Betty J. McManama, 89, a resident of Columbia City, died at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Millerâs Merry Manor where she had been a resident for the past month.
She was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Washington Township, a daughter of the late Clarence and Osie (Huffman) Juillerat.
Her formative years were spent in Washington Township. She graduated from Washington Center High School in 1942.
Helen Margaret Helmer, 101, of Columbia City, passed away at 3 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City.
Born on Aug. 9, 1911, in Kendallville, she was the daughter of Howard S. and Martha Mae (Lysher) Wilson.
Helen was raised in Kendallville, and following her marriage to Kenneth E. Helmer Aug. 17, 1929, the two moved to Avilla.
Doris E. Fenker Pittenger, 92, a lifelong resident of Columbia Township, died at 10:07 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital where she was admitted on Friday.
She was born April 19, 1921, in Columbia Township a daughter of Elmer Franklin and Dessie Bell (Smith) Schrader. She attended the Schrader School House and graduated from Coesse High School.
On June 8, 1941, she was united in marriage to Edward C. Fenker. Mr. Fenker died July 28, 1996.
