Robert Martin Hine, 95, died at Coventry Meadows April 22, 2013. He was a lifetime resident of Jefferson Township in Whitley County and son of the late Gustave and Myra Hine.
Robert worked at Coil Eng. in Roanoke and Dana Ft. Wayne for 33.5 years.
He liked gardening, mowing, the Colts, Indiana basketball and senior tours. Robert served in the U.S. Army 4.5 years in the 192nd Headquarters company and 38th Cyclone division receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and other metals from New Guinea and the Philippines.
Herman William Farber, 82, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at his home. He was born January 4, 1931 in Columbia City the son of the late Raymond and Elma Farber.
On September 8, 1973, he was united in marriage with Ruth Hart, and she preceded in him death August 27, 2002.
Herman served his country in the U.S. Army for 21 years. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked at American Hoist in Ft. Wayne.
He was a member of the Leo American Legion Post 409, Masonic Lodge in Leo and Eagles Aerie #2556 in Hicksville, Ohio.
Sandra Sue (Wuertley) Harter, 72, a South Whitley native, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at her home in New Braunfels, Texas.
She was born Dec. 22, 1940 in Huntington a daughter of John Phillip and Elsie Marcell (Householder) Wuertley. Her formative years were spent in South Whitley.
Lenora Ellen Geiger, 95, a former resident of Noble County and widow of R. Franklin Geiger, passed away at 9:58 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at North Ridge Village in Albion. She had been a resident there since 2007.
Mrs. Geiger was born March 22, 1918, in Allen County, a daughter of James F. and Elva (Bosler) Fulk, and graduated from LaOtto High School in 1936.
She later graduated from Manchester College, and received her masterâ€™s in education from Indiana University, Bloomington.
John Riley Hicks, 77, of Larwill, passed away at 11 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at his daughterâ€™s home in Warsaw. He departed this life to be with the Lord and his beloved deceased wife, Wilma. Born Sept. 29, 1935, in Prestonburg, Ky., he was the oldest son of Ell and Allie (Shepard) Hicks.
Richard W. Bowyer, 68, died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Marion Veterans Administration Medical Center where he had been a patient since July 2011.
He was born Jan. 3, 1945, in Logansport, a son of the late A. Mac and Marliz (McKinney) Bowyer.
He spent his formative years in Cass County, and attended Wheatland Avenue Methodist Church, Logansport. He graduated from Washington Township School in 1963.
On June 12, 1963, he entered the U. S. Air Force. From 1964-67 he was stationed at Spangdahelm AFB, Germany. He received his honorable discharge from active duty April 11, 1967.
Florence M. Heath, 80, of Albion, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Parkview Noble Hospital.
Born July 14, 1932, in Decatur, she was the daughter of Nelson W. and Ida E. (Busch) Lahrman.
Bonnie Elaine Knetter, 74, of South Whitley, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at her home. Born Aug. 31, 1938, in Wolf Lake, she was the daughter of Lee Arthur and Ethel Pearl (Weeks) Brown.
She lived most of her lifetime in Whitley County, graduating from Columbia City High School. She worked at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Parkview Oaks and retired from Oak Pointe as a QMA. She was a former member of B.T. Roberts Free Methodist Church.
Benjamin C. â€śBenâ€ť Tackitt, 77, of Huntington, died at 9:50 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at The Heritage of Huntington.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Dr., Huntington.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with one-hour visitation prior to service at Bailey-Love Mortuary, with Rev. Matt Gapinski officiating. The burial will be held in South Whitley Cemetery.
Norman D. Doud , 84, of Columbia City, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 at his home. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a son of Hubert and Nora (Goings) Doud. He retired in 1990 from Boilermakers 374 after 33 years.
