Mark Curtis

November 27, 2013

Mark J. Curtis, 54, graduated to glory on Nov. 25, 2013, while at Parkview Regional Medical Center and is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Born Sept. 16, 1959, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Donald P. Curtis and Charlene D. Adams-Begue.
Mark worked as a drywall craftsman at Hanna Brothers and Hartman’s for many years. He enjoyed his family, home and friends. He will always be deeply loved by all and will be missed forever.

Clifford Perlich

Clifford J. Perlich, 86, of Avilla, died Sunday, November 24, 2013.
He was born in Noble County Jan. 31, 1927, to the late Lloyd W. and Anna (Schaefer) Perlich.
He served in the U.S. Army from April 1945 to October 1946. He married the late, Betty Ann (Rumsyre) Dec. 24, 1950.
Together they lived 55 years in Churubusco and enjoyed camping from 1970 to 2000 and were members of the Good Sam Club. He was a dairy farmer from 1950 to 1970.

Robert Taylor

Robert “Bob” Twining Taylor, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Nov. 18, 2013, at the Homeplace in Burlington, Wash.
Born in Seattle, Wash., Bob lived in Richmond Beach and Seward Park. In his teenage years, his family moved to Milwaukee, Wisc.
He graduated from White Fish Bay High School and then earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Bob was an ardent Wisconsin Badger fan and Green Bay Packer Backer.

Neal Mosley, 41

November 25, 2013

Neal Franklin Mosley, 41, of Nappanee, and formerly of Columbia City, passed away at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.
Born on Jan. 13, 1972, in Colorado Springs, Colo., he was the son of Louis A. and Linda M. (Brown) Mosley.
He resided there in Colorado Springs until 1982 when he moved to Columbia City.
He then moved to Nappanee in 2004, his residence.
Neal attended Columbia City High School and had most recently been a cabinetmaker for MED LINE.
He was also a great artist and loved to draw as well.

Bennett Warner, 85

Bennett “Ben” L. Warner, 85, of South Whitley, died at 6:09 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital Emergency Room where he was brought earlier.
He was born Sept. 29, 1928, in Kosciusko County, a son of the late Delbert R. and Jessie A. (Reed) Warner.
His formative years were spent in eastern Kosciusko County. He attended Sidney High School.
On Jan. 2, 1951, he entered into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He attained the rank of Sergeant First Class and was honorably discharged Oct. 2, 1952.

Dick Gipe, 88

Dick Dale Gipe, 88, of Columbia City, passed away at 1 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Parkview Oaks.
Born May 11, 1925, in Columbia City, he was the son of Murl E. and Elderine F. (Thompson) Gipe.
When he was a year old, his mother passed away and at the age of 10, Dick lost his father from the result of an auto accident. He was then raised by his grandparents, Adam and Mary Gipe and aunt, Neva Gipe.

Paul Creager, 81

November 21, 2013

Paul Eugene Creager, 81, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 5:03 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, surrounded by his family.
Born Aug. 4, 1932 in Columbia City, he was the son of James R. and Effie L. (Garvin) Creager.
He grew up attending Oak Grove United Methodist Church and graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1950.
Paul was a Korean War Army Veteran.
On Feb. 14, 1959, he married Sharon Ann Smith at Saturn Christian Church. They lived in Columbia City until 1977 then move to Woodburn for three years before moving to the New Haven area in 1980.

Tristan Bender, 26

Tristan Andrew Bender, 26, of Columbia City, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, in an automobile accident.
He was born Feb. 22, 1987, in Whitley County, a son of Daryl A. and Colleen S. (Hoffman) Bender.
He attended Columbia City High School and achieved his GED through Ivy Tech in 2009.
Employed in the fast food industry, he has worked at Hardees and Arby’s in Columbia City and Arby’s, Burger King and Culver’s in Fort Wayne and had been an assistant manager at KFC in Decatur. He had also been a rural carrier for the Journal Gazette.

Louis Salgado, 87

November 20, 2013

Louis Salgado, 87, of Columbia City, died at 5:40 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Parkview Oaks where he had been a resident since September 2009.
He was born March 23, 1926, in Houston, Texas, a son of Emencao and Maria (Martinez) Salgado.
On April 15, 1957, he was united in marriage to Trinidad Mendoza. They moved to Whitley County from San Antonio, Texas, and began working on the Ruby Campbell farm and in the mid 1960s to the Denzil Schrader farm and began work. Mrs. Salgado died April 16, 1992.

Isaac Hyser

Isaac Moran Hyser, 5 month old son of Steven E. and Andrea (Elliott) Hyser of Churubusco, passed away unexpectedly at 5:55 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
