Ruth A. Wilson, 96, formerly of South Whitley died at 1:55 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Covington Manor, Fort Wayne where she had been a resident for the past several years.
She was born Oct. 22, 1916, in South Whitley, a daughter of Arthur and Ellen (Enos) Swank. Her formative years were spent in South Whitley. She graduated from South Whitley High School.
On April 16, 1936, she was united in marriage to Cranston â€śCackâ€ť Wilson. With the exception of one year in Fort Wayne, they have always lived in South Whitley. Mr. Wilson died Sept. 13, 1963.
Harold L. Brower, 87, of Columbia City, passed away at 11 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at his home. Born May 5, 1925, in South Whitley, he was the son of Reed and Ida Irene(Rivet) Brower.
His early life was spent in Collamer. On Feb. 17, 1946, he married Grace L. Gaff in Huntington.
Following their marriage he and Grace established their first home in Larwill, before moving back to South Whitley in August 2000.
Stanley Ford Kistler, 77, of Pierceton, passed away at 10:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Warsaw Meadows Care Center, Warsaw. Born Aug. 25, 1935, in Warsaw, he was the son of Floyd and Evelyn (Kilgore) Kistler.
He was a lifetime resident of Pierceton and he graduated from Pierceton High School. On April 4, 1970, he married Pamala Sue Krom at Zion Lutheran Church, Columbia City. He retired after 34 years of service in 2000 from Viking Inc., Columbia City as a supervisor. He was a member of Pierceton Presbyterian Church.
John G. Walter, 59, a Columbia City native, died at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born Dec. 19, 1953 in Columbia City a son of John M. â€śJackâ€ť and Betty Jean (Strouse) Walter.
A lifelong resident of Columbia City until 2009, he graduated from Columbia City Joint High School.
He was employed at Harvester, Essex, Don Ayres Trucking and Wal Mart.
Max Gerald Kaufman, 93, passed away on Jan. 16, 2013, in Bluffton.
Max was born to John Easton and Edna Kaufman May 22, 1919, in Whitley County.
After spending two years in the Army Air Corp he was honorably discharged in August of 1945 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
He returned to Whitley County to operate the family farm and also started his career at Dana Corporation retiring as a toolmaker in 1981.
Donna J. Rose, 73, of South Whitley, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, following a single-car accident in southwest Whitley County.
She was born Feb, 9, 1939, in Whitley County, a daughter of Dwight â€śDaveâ€ť and Dorothy L. (Owen) Goff.
On Feb. 8, 1957, she married Frank Rose. They made their home in Michigan and later Wabash. Following Frankâ€™s death in 1981, Donna moved to South Whitley.
She retired from Dana Weatherhead in Columbia City with many years of service.
Helen Marie Wolfe, 92, of Larwill, died at 7:26 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Columbia City, where she had been a resident since November 2012.
She was born May 5, 1920, in Whitley County, a daughter of Andrew and Mary Kathryne (Beaucha) Gebert. She completed her education at Larwill High School.
In July 1957, she married Willis D. Wolfe. They made their home in Larwill. Mr. Wolfe died Nov. 11, 1985.
She retired from Weatherhead, Columbia City with 38 years of service.
Nadine Kerr, 76, of South Whitley, passed away at Millers Merry Manor in Columbia City Saturday, Jan. 19, at 1:30 a.m.
Born on Nov. 22, 1936, in Floyd County, Ky., she was the daughter of John and Melvina (Howe) Keithley.
She has been a Whitley County resident since 1981 moving from Kentucky where she attended school. She worked at R.R. Donnelley, Warsaw; Taco Bell, Columbia City and was a homemaker and housewife. She attended Free Will Baptist Church, Pierceton.
Beverly (Simmons-Wiley) Sailors, 72 of Fort Wayne, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Renaissance Village in Fort Wayne.
Beverly was a 1958 graduate of Huntington Township High School. She attended International Business College. She was employed in the medical field for many years, including Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Sun Coast Hospital in Florida and Dr. B. Trent Cooper in Roanoke.
She was a past member of the American Business Womenâ€™s Association Huntington Chapter.
She was born on Oct. 7, 1940, in Huntington, a daughter of James and Zelma (Hillegas) Simmons.
Rosemarie C. (Magers) Wright, 91, a former resident of Churubusco and Fort Wayne, and widow of William C. Wright, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013.
Mrs. Wright was born in Fort Wayne on May 23, 1921, a daughter of Joseph I. and Elizabeth A. (Redinbaugh) Magers.
Surviving relatives include her two sons, a son-in-law, eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Churubusco with Father Jacob Gall, the celebrant.
