Thomas E. Hesting, 69, of Columbia City, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at his home.
Born Dec. 20, 1943, in Huntington, he was the son of Walter and Lucille Margaret (Bauer) Hesting.
Tom spent his lifetime in Nix Settlement, Tunker, Collins and has lived at his present home since 1979.
He graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1962. He also later in life took nursing courses at IPFW.
On Oct. 17, 1964, he married Sherry D. Parsons at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Willard, OH.
Marilyn E. Owen, 90, a resident of Churubusco and formerly of Green Township, passed away at 11:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City.
She had been taken to the hospital from her home on Friday. Mrs. Owen was born in Churubusco on June 21, 1922, a daughter of Chester E. and Bertha (Richards) Tulley.
Surviving relatives include her two daughters, a brother, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Emma Grace Hindbaugh, 6, of Columbia City, passed away at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born Dec. 13, 2006, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Cory Sean and Brittany Lynn (Waybright) Hindbaugh.
She attended kindergarten at Faith Christian Academy, Columbia City and loved doing crafts, painting and coloring.
Virginia E. Fulk, 90, of Churubusco, passed away at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
Born Jan. 26, 1922, in Allen County, she was the daughter of Frank and Ethel Mae (Grim) Garrison.
A lifelong resident of Whitley County, she lived for brief periods of time in surrounding areas. She graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1941.
James A. Simmons, 75, of rural Columbia City, died at 12:40 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Columbia City, where he had been a resident since Nov. 8, 2012.
He was born Jan. 31, 1937, in Huntington, a son of the late Benjamin and Elsie (Shoaf) Simmons. His formative years were spent in Columbia City. He attended Columbia City High School.
On Aug. 30, 1968, he was united in marriage to Doris E. Brown. They have always made their home in Whitley County.
Eugene H. â€śWhiteyâ€ť Stewart, 89, of South Whitley, died at 1 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born Dec. 19, 1923, in Lawrence County, a son of the late Delbert C. and Nellie (Walton) Stewart.
His formative years were spent in Mitchell, Ind. and later Detroit, Mich. He completed his education with a GED while in Detroit.
Betty L. Anderson, 84, of Columbia City, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013.
Born on Aug. 16, 1928, in Kimmel, she was the daughter of Chris H. and Dorothy Bernice (Ringler) Lehman.
She is a lifetime resident of Whitley County. She attended Kimmell schools for eight years and Columbia City High School.
On January 21, 1984, she married Donald B. Anderson at First Church of God. She worked at Millers Merry Manor, Columbia City with 10 years of service. She was a member of First Church of God, Columbia City.
Donald J. Wooden, 92, of Columbia City, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Parkview Hospital in Columbia City.
He is survived by one daughter, Kathleen (Bruce) Hazelet of Columbia City; three grandchildren, Ellen, Rachel & Russell, all of Columbia City.
Mickey Allen Zumbrun, 73, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his home. Born on June 16, 1939 in Wolf Lake, he was the son of Timothy L. and Lulu (Clingerman) Zumbrun. He graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1957 and served in the U.S. Army.
On July 11, 1964, he married Dianne F. Ruckman at Larwill United Methodist Church. He has been a Whitley County lifetime resident and farmer. He worked at Dana Weatherhead for 35 years. He was a member of Weatherhead Pioneer Club and Wolf Lake United Methodist Church.
Norma Jean Munk, 82, of Albion, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Born February 3, 1930, in Noble County, she was the daughter of Marlo and Eunice (Kiester) Stangland.
A lifetime resident of Noble County, she graduated from Wolf Lake High School with the Class of 1948.
On Nov. 28, 1948, she married James W. Munk at Wolf Lake Baptist Church. She retired from Dana Weatherhead, Columbia City in 1989.
