Dane Edward Knote, 25, of rural South Whitley, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 30, 2013.
He was born Feb. 6, 1988, in Columbia City, a son of Ernest J. and Linda L. (Graham) Knote. His formative years were spent in Cleveland Township, Whitley County. He attended Whitko High School.
Madaline Hill Ternet Fusselman, 87, a resident of Fort Wayne, passed away at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at her home at Hamilton House in Fort Wayne. She had resided there for the past two years. Madaline was born May 17, 1926, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Cloid and Margaret (Ellingwood) Carpenter. She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne and spent most of her adult life there.
Betty J. Fetters, 90, of Noble County, died at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at her home.
She was born June 22, 1923, in Kokomo, a daughter of Harry John and Mildred Mae (Heath) Adams. She graduated from Huntington High School.
On Feb. 19, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard L. â€śRickâ€ť Fetters.
They made their home on a farm. Mr. Fetters died Feb. 22, 2010.
She was a member of Ormas Baptist Church, American Legion Post #98 Auxiliary and a charter member of Wolf Lake V.F.W. Post #4717 Auxiliary.
Delores J. Miller, 84, of Albion, passed away at 3:23 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, with her family by her side.
Born July 10, 1929, in Van Wert County, Ohio, she was the daughter of Orval and Nora (Kiehl) North.
She graduated from Wren High School, Wren, Ohio, with the Class of 1947. On Aug. 17, 1947, she married Clifford L. in Ohio.
In 1969, they moved from Ohio to Noble County. She was a librarian for Central Noble School Corporation, Wolf Lake, with 33 years of service, retiring in 2004.
James E. Smith, 75, formerly of Angola, passed away Oct. 28, 2013 at his home in Sunrise Beach, Mo.Â
Jim was born May 10, 1938, in LaGrange County, to Buryl and Irene Parker Smith. He was married 55 years to Barbara Stevens Smith who survives at their home.
Surviving relatives include Jeffrey A. and Suzy (Scranage) Smith of Waterloo; Scott B. and Pam K. (Myers) Smith of Middlebury, and Barry L. and Kim L. (Elliott) Smith of Avon, Ohio.Â He is also survived by seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; andÂ one brother,Â Jack E. Smith of Ashley.
Rev. Richard A. Bremer, 58, of Stewardson, Ill., died at 9:24 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, in his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Stewardson, Ill. with Rev. Michael Mohr officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the church and one hour before service time on Saturday. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, Ill.
Arrangements are made by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, Ill. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran School.
Helen E. Carter, 82, of Columbia City, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Parkview Oaks where she had been a resident since Sept. 30.
She was born Aug. 18, 1931, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Guy and Mabel (Graves) Putman. Her formative years were spent in Columbia City. She graduated from Columbia City High School.
In addition to working at Blue Bell for eight years, she was employed at Lyall Electric for 26 years.
From 1956 until 1992 she lived at High Lake then moving into Columbia City.
Her memberships included Eagles #1906.
Betty J. Rex, 86, of Columbia City, died at 4:54 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at Parkview Oaks where she had been a resident since August 2007.
She was born Sept. 19, 1927 in Whitley County a daughter of Wyland and Iva E. (Gump) Zumbrun. A lifelong resident of Whitley County, she graduated from Coesse High School.
On Dec. 25, 1947, she was united in marriage to Jackson A. â€śJackâ€ť Rex. From 1972 until 1998, they spent their winters in Zapata, Texas. Mr. Rex died June 29, 2003.
She was employed at GE for 15 years and retired from United Technologies in 1980.
William G. Marks, 87, of Winona Lake, formerly of Columbia City, passed away at 4:57 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake.
Born Oct. 25, 1925, in Columbia City, he was the son of Garl E. and Arlouine (Ramp) Marks.
He and his parents moved for a short time to Montpelier, Ohio from Columbia City, but with that exception, he has spent the rest of his life in the Columbia City area, residing at Loon Lake since 1984.
While there he enjoyed fishing for bluegill, playing cards, and creating oil paintings. He attended Columbia City Public Schools.
James A. Dimmick 76, of South Whitley, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital where he was admitted Wednesday. He had been in failing health.
He was born April 25, 1937, in Fort Wayne, a son of the late Russell E. and Alma J. (Luttman) Dimmick. His formative years were spent in South Whitley. He graduated from South Whitley High School in 1955.
On Aug. 4, 1957, he was united in marriage to Karol E. Uhrick. They made their home in South Whitley for a short period before moving to Fort Wayne. After 10 years, they returned to South Whitley.
