Mable I. Blanchard, 91, of Richmond, Texas, passed away at 6:13 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Cambridge Nursing Home in Richmond.
Born on March 28, 1922, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Leland Edward Blew and May Ilean Blew.
On July 11, 1942, she married Melvin Hayes Blanchard at Hattiesburg, Ms. She was a custodian at Whitko Community School Corporation for 22 and a half years. She had lived in Columbia City until 2003, when she moved to be closer to her son in Richmond, Texas.
Elizabeth Linnette Martinez, 48, of Columbia City, passed away suddenly at her residence at 1:14 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013.
She was born in Fort Wayne Aug. 21, 1965.
She was the daughter of Willis DeWayne â€śBillâ€ť and Viola May (Wood) Bosserman.
Liz spent her lifetime in Columbia City graduating with the Class of 1983 from Columbia City High School. She attended cosmetology training and received a Nail Tech certificate.
Gale W. North, 80, of North Liberty, passed away at 12:21 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at his home.
Born March 29, 1933, in Wilson Lake, Whitley County, he was the son of Charles B. and Rhoda B. (Cook) North.
He graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1951. He was a Korean War Veteran with the U.S. Marine Corps serving from 1953 â€“ 1961. During his service he was awarded medals for National Defense Services, Korean Service, sharpshooter and good conduct. Gale had achieved the rank of sergeant at the end of his tour of duty.
Millie F. Wood, 86, of Columbia City, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born Nov. 23, 1926, in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Joe Z. and Gladys E. (Robinson) Reese.
She graduated from Coesse High School with the Class of 1944. On Feb. 16, 1944, she married Paul H. Wood in Columbia City.
Margaret C. Gallimore, 86, of Noble County, died at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at her home.
She was born Nov. 17, 1926 in Mishawaka, a daughter of Russel E. and Ruth Helen (Cox) Sheets.
As a young girl, her family moved to Washington Township. She completed her education at Washington Center High School.
On Feb. 16, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ervin L. Grace. They made their home in Laud. Mr. Grace died Nov. 16, 1981.
On Sept. 8, 1984, she was united in marriage to Otho Eugene â€śGeneâ€ť Gallimore. They made their home in Noble County.
Trey Jordan Coe, nine month old son of Jason A. and Kelcey (Maggard) Coe of South Whitley passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 1, 2013 at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City. A bright and cheerful baby, he always had a smile and loved to follow his brother, Jason â€śJDâ€ť.
Joann M. Stephenson, 91, of Columbia City, died at 5:43 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital where she had been a patient since Oct. 18.
She was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Clarence and Helen (Loutzenhiser) Mowry.
Her formative years were spent in Garrett and Fort Wayne. She completed her education at Central High School.
On Aug. 1, 1958, she was united in marriage to Robert V. Stephenson.
They made their home in Fort Wayne until 1976 when they moved to Turkey Lake near Lagrange.
Russell W. Pratt Sr., 76, of Columbia City, passed away at 8:45 am Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at his home. Born June 7, 1937, in Reed City, Mich., he was the son of John A. and Leola (Campbell) Pratt.
Russ served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959, and married Heddy Dietrich on Jan. 30, 1960, in Ft. Wayne.
They had lived in Churubusco before moving to St. James City, Fla. in 1999. In July they moved back to Columbia City.
Dane Edward Knote, 25, of rural South Whitley, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 30, 2013.
He was born Feb. 6, 1988, in Columbia City, a son of Ernest J. and Linda L. (Graham) Knote. His formative years were spent in Cleveland Township, Whitley County. He attended Whitko High School.
Madaline Hill Ternet Fusselman, 87, a resident of Fort Wayne, passed away at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at her home at Hamilton House in Fort Wayne. She had resided there for the past two years. Madaline was born May 17, 1926, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Cloid and Margaret (Ellingwood) Carpenter. She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne and spent most of her adult life there.
