Warren York, 57, of Columbia City, passed away at 8:34 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 24, 1956, in Columbia City, he was the son of Donald A. and Marilee J. (Heil) York.
Warren graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1976. He worked at Columbia City Engineering for more than 20 years and was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church.

Marcia Allen, 81

Marcia I. Allen, 81, of Columbia City, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at her home.
Born Aug. 18, 1933, in Andrews, she was the daughter of Kenneth M. and Helen L. (Clark) Slagal.
She graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1952. On Dec. 15, 1952 she married Larry L. Allen.
Marcia was a telephone operator early on in her life, but she was most proud of being a mother and homemaker. For a brief period, she also was a nurse’s aid at the Linvill Nursing Home. She was a member of Community Bible Church.

Ronald H. Ott, 92, formerly of rural Churubusco, died Friday evening, Oct. 3, 2014, at Timbercrest Healthcare, North Manchester, where he became a resident Sept. 27.
He was born Oct. 15, 1921, in Noble County, a son of W. Denver and Gertie M. (Hire) Ott. He attended school in Merriam and graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1940.
On Sept. 5, 1948, he was united in marriage to Jennie Irene Ott. A lifelong farmer, they made their home on their farm in Noble County. On July 3, 2012, they moved to Timbercrest Retirement Community.

Gwen Grimm, 52

Gwen Marie Grimm, 52, of Columbia City, passed away at 7:35 p.m., Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital.
Born Jan. 23, 1962, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Susan (Schlagenhauf) and Harold Fields.
She graduated from South Side High School with the Class of 1980, and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Purdue University in 1984.
On Sept. 14, 1985, she married her high school sweetheart, Steven Grimm.

Wiemann Phillips, 71

Wiemann L. “Whitey” Phillips, 71, of Columbia City, died Thursday evening, Oct. 2, 2014, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born May 3, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo., a son of John William and Mary L. Phillips.
In 1955, the family moved to Columbia City.
During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army.
On Dec. 3, 1969, he married Victoria Hogston. They have made their home in the Columbia City area.
He was employed 34 years at Dana Weatherhead. He loved writing poetry and enjoyed gardening.
His memberships include New Life Fellowship Church.

Margaret Crouch, 70

Margaret A. Crouch, 70, formerly of Syracuse, died Friday morning, Oct. 3, 2014, at her son, Stephen’s, home.
She was born March 27, 1944, in Huntington, a daughter of James H. and Virginia D. (Binnion) Riordan.
Her formative years were spent in the Larwill area. She graduated from Larwill High School and International Business College.
She was employed at Oakwood Inn for 20 years, residing in North Webster and later Syracuse from 1985 until moving to North Carolina in July 2014.

Cleo Brown, 81

Cleo L. Brown, 81, of Columbia City, Ind. passed away at 6:36 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
Born on April 24, 1933, in Whitley County, he was the son of Lee and Ethel (Weeks) Brown.
A lifetime resident in Whitley County, Cleo graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1951.
After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War and was discharged in 1959.

Mary Ellen Mowrey, 94

Mary Ellen Mowrey, 94 of Pierceton, passed away at 4:32 am Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, in Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw.
On May 6, 1920, she was born in Wabash County, to Ralph and Esther (Smuck) Hawkins.
She was united in marriage to John F. Mowrey Aug. 22, 1941, who preceded her in death in March 13, 1973.
Mary Ellen graduated in 1938 from Somerset High School and from the nurses training program at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, in 1941.

Jan Bristow, 71

Jan Alynn Bristow, 71, of rural South Whitley, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 30, 2014 at his home after a short illness.
He was born April 28, 1943, in Detroit, Mich., a son of James M. and Dorothy G. (Terman) Bristow.
In 1946, his family moved to South Whitley and in 1959, to Urbana. He graduated from Urbana High School.
In 1961, he moved to Fort Wayne. He served in the Indiana Air Force Air Guard from 1964 until 1973.
He was employed at International Harvester for several years and retired from Manchester Tool & Die in 2007.

Ruth Felger, 96

Ruth Evelyn Felger, 96, of Fort Wayne, passed Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at Visiting Nurse.
She was born Sept. 27, 1918, to the late Solomon and Ellen Gerber.
During her younger years she worked at General Electric and also led herself and her three sisters in a traveling quartet called the “Gerber Sisters” during the 1930s and 1940s. She played the lead guitar. She loved country music and attending concerts.
