Walter F. Meyers, Jr., 90, passed away June 18, 2014.
He was born on April 24, 1924, in Columbia City.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Nellie Grey Meyers.
He will be missed by his surviving five children, Jeffrey, G. Meyers (Pam), Mary Margaret Meyers-Walker (Eugene); Nellie G. (Nela) Faddis (Tom); Roxanna Meyers (Stanley Mount); Monica Meyers; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many friends.
Zula Faye Owens, 75 of Claypool, Indiana passed away at 3:36 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, in her residence after a long battle with cancer.
She was born June 9, 1939, in Brethitti County, Kentucky to Weldon and Edith (Burton) Minnix.
After moving her at the age of 16, she met the love of her life, Edward Owens. They were married Dec. 7, 1957, in Roanoke. He preceded her in death April 12, 2012.
Elizabeth M. Mallock, 93, of South Whitley, died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Parkview Huntington Hospital. She had been a resident at Norwood Nursing Center since November 2009.
She was born May 31, 1921, in Laketon, a daughter of James Esta and Golda (Rutledge) Price. Her formative years were spent in Laketon. She completed her education at Laketon High School.
On May 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to Rodney N. Mallock. With the exception of five years in Leesburg, Fla. from 1985 until 1990, they made their home in South Whitley. Mr. Mallock died Feb. 12, 2004.
Joan L. (Schrader) Stayer, 84, of Lafayette, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, at St. Anthony Healthcare Center.
Born Oct. 28, 1929, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of the late Forrest and Margaret (Stigman) Schrader.
Joan was raised in Columbia City and graduated from Columbia City High School and went on to graduate from Indiana Business College.
Larry D. Klein, 80, of Tri Lakes, died peacefully at his home at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014. He had been in failing health.
He was born Jan. 14, 1934, in Fort Wayne, a son of the late Albert V. and Margaret Irene (Strebig) Klein.
He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne where he attended St. Patrickâs Elementary and then graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1951. He attended the Purdue University extension in Fort Wayne.
On July 29, 1952, he entered the U.S. Air Force serving in Europe. He was honorably discharged June 29, 1956.
Rev. Bill C. Stephens, 70, of Sidney, went home to be with the Lord at 6:45 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014.
He was born Nov. 24, 1943, in Hueysville, Ky., to Dave & Mary (Slone) Stephens. On Oct. 19, 1968, he married Joyce Parks. He was a pastor with Pentecostal Church of God for 40 or more years and worked at G.E., Fort Wayne, for 31 years. He retired in 1997. He was a member of Sweetwater Assembly of God, North Manchester.
Donald R. Craig, 90, of Huntington, passed away at 3 a.m. June 21, 2014, at his residence in Huntington.
Mr. Craig was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Huntington, to Charles M. and Lona McCombs Craig.
Mr. Craig married Helene Marie Stoffel in Huntington April 15, 1944. They recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. She survives and lives in Huntington.
Roy Jackson, 75, of South Whitley, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, where he had been admitted the first of May.
He was born July 13, 1938, in Magoffin, Ky., a son of Smith and Goldia (Ramey) Jackson.
As a young boy, the family moved to Sidney, where he completed his schooling.
On Aug. 25, 1955, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Keel. They have always made their home in South Whitley. Mary Lou pasted away July 9, 2004.
He was employed for 43 years as a machinist at the former Gripco, South Whitley.
Steven B. Smethers, 67, passed away Wednesday at his home in Columbia City.
Born in Fort Wayne, Steven was a minister and founder of United Christian Ministries International. Previously he was a contractor-carpenter and member of the Fort Wayne Fire Department.
He enjoyed cooking, woodworking, and spending time at Loon Lake.
Gerald âBudâ Leo Hites, 89, of Columbia City formerly of Kenton, Ohio, passed away at his daughterâs residence Friday June 13 at midnight.
He was born April 10, 1925, in Roundhead, Ohio, the son of the late Earl A.
Hites and Bonnie E. Harvey. On Oct. 31, 1948, he married Donna B. Nichols and she passed away in March of 2006.
