Robert Eugene Workman, 83, of Columbia City, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at Miller‚Äôs Merry Manor Inc., Columbia City.
Born May 11, 1928, in Logansport, he was the son of Grover Cleveland and Pearl Mae (Michael) Workman.
In addition to Kalamazoo, Mich., he lived in several Indiana cities including, Kentland, Churubusco, Auburn, Rome City, Kendallville, and Columbia City.
He graduated from Kentland High School with the Class of 1946.
On May 11, 1958, he married Margaret Louise Craig in Whitley County.
NORTH MANCHESTER ‚ÄĒ Beatrice Roseann ‚ÄúRosie‚ÄĚ Winger, 83, formerly of North Manchester, died at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Miller‚Äôs Merry Manor, Columbia City, where she had been a resident since December 16, 2011.
She was born April 7, 1928, in North Manchester, a daughter of Riley and Ina (Rhinehart) Lambert.
Her formative years were spent in North Manchester and she graduated from Central High School.
On Aug. 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Arden Joe Winger.
They made their home in Fort Wayne and later North Manchester before moving to South Whitley in 1959.
Lowell B. Bodine, age 84, of Columbia City, passed away at 5:58 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
Born Aug. 17, 1927, in Maybee, Mich., he was the son of Benjamin C. and Lucille (Yost) Bodine.
He graduated from Dundee High School, Dundee, Mich. with the Class of 1946.
A Whitley County resident since 2009, he was a former resident of Lake James and Michigan.
On June 12, 1948, he married Phyllis A. Wiseman in Maybee, Mich. After 33 years of service, he retired December, 1987, from National Life Insurance.
Carmie Haneline, 84, of Columbia City, passed away at 6:06 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
Born Nov. 26, 1927, in Richlands, Va., she was the daughter of Alonzo and Amie Lee (Allen) Hilton.
She lived in Virginia until 1962. She lived at Wabash, Andrews and Huntington prior to moving to Columbia City in 2002 where she lived at the Clugston Hotel for 6 years and Parkview Oaks for the past four years.
She was a former detective in Georgia, and she worked as a factory worker at Seamco, South Whitley, and Preferred Tech, Andrews.
COLUMBIA CITY ‚ÄĒ Marjorie M. Judd, 79, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:13 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
Born March 15, 1932, in Noble County, she was the daughter of Chris H. and Dorothy B. (Ringler) Lehman.
She lived in Noble County until the age of nine, moving with her family to Whitley County where she attended Columbia City High School.
On July 16, 1949, she married Dale E. Judd in Columbia City.
Lawrence Richard ‚ÄúDick‚ÄĚ Schwartz, 85, of Fort Wayne, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at Riverbend Health Care.
He was born March 5, 1926, in Fort Wayne to the late James and Estella (Myer) Schwartz.
Mr. Schwartz retired from Phelps Dodge as superintendent of maintenance in 1985.
He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, American Legion #241, and the VFW after serving in the Army during World War II.
Nellie R. Boyer, 95, of Little Cedar Lake, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at her home.
She was born July 26, 1916, in Huntington County, a daughter of Frank and Grace (Plasterer) Pasko.
Her formative years were spent in Union Township, Huntington County. She graduated from Union Township High School.
On Nov. 9, 1935, she was united in marriage to Roger B. Boyer. They made their home on the Eckman Farm in Rock Creek Township, Huntington County until 1945 when they moved to a farm in Lancaster Township.
Richard D. ‚ÄúDick‚ÄĚ Mitchell, 81, of Warsaw, died at 8:10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 8, 1930, in El Paso, Texas to Oda E. & Zola Iva (Reeg) Mitchell.
He was a U.S. Marine veteran and was married Feb. 14, 1981, in Warsaw to Sue Ann (Donnelly) Ray who survives.
COLUMBIA CITY ‚ÄĒ Richard K. Bishop, 74, of Columbia City, died at 10:22 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at The Oaks Living Center.
He was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Chicago, a son of William and Helen (Blain) Bishop.
On July 22, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sondra Kay Simpson.
COLUMBIA CITY ‚ÄĒ Mary E. Leazier, 84, formerly of Big Lake, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 10, 2012, at Miller‚Äôs Merry Manor where she had been a resident since June 2008.
She was born July 16, 1927, in Huntington, a daughter of John L. and Louise K. (Stark) Slusser Sr.
In 1944, her family moved to Big Lake from Huntington. She completed her education at Wolf Lake High School.
During World War II, she worked at General Electric. She was also employed at South Whitley Products, Wolf Lake Products and Knapp Lake Products.
