Phillip Hatfield died Monday, May 14, 2012.
He was born Feb. 10, 1948, the son of James and Virginia Hatfield of Columbia City.
Hatfield served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann (Imler) Hatfield, previously of Columbia City; son, Joseph Hatfield of LaPorte; daughter, Mindy Deardurff of Chesterton; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis and James Jr., along with 17 nieces and nephews.
Eva M. McCormick, 91, a resident of Churubusco and formerly of rural Avilla, died at 4:05 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, in the emergency room at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
She was born May 1, 1921, a daughter of James Emitt and Mabel (Sloan) Smith.
On Nov. 27, 1939, she was married to Clarence G. McCormick, Sr.
Mr. McCormick preceded her in death on April 8, 1997.
Jean Ann Tschantz, 64, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 1:59 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.
Born May 28, 1947, in Huntington, she was the daughter of Carl Raymond and Lois Maxine (Deal) Bruch.
She graduated from Clear Creek High School with the class of 1965 and attended business college in Indianapolis.
On Oct. 11, 1969, she married John F. Tschantz in Warren. She lived in Goblesville until 1969; moving from South Whitley in the mid-70s to her current Fort Wayne home.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Phyllis J. Harrold, 84, of Columbia City, died at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Parkview Oaks where she had been a resident since May 7, 2005.
She was born April 2, 1928, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Harold and Gladys (Pontzious) Beard.
Her formative years were spent in Fort Wayne. She graduated from North Side High School.
On Dec. 31, 1949, she was united in marriage to Richard L. Harrold. They made their home in Thorncreek Township until 1964 when they moved into Columbia City. Mr. Harrold died Aug. 24, 1992.
She was employed at Shooks Dairy Queen for 25 years.
Madelyn J. France, 92, formerly of Columbia City, passed away at 2:10 a.m. Friday May 11, 2012, at Western Reserve Masonic Community, Medina, Ohio.
Born Nov. 26, 1919, she was the daughter of William and Isabelle (Lovely) Stidham.
On Feb. 8, 1941, she married Robert D. France in Columbia City. A wife and mother, she was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church.
Cheryleen Sue Ressler of Columbia City passed away at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City.
Born on Sept. 18, 1946, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Herbert I. and Cathaline â€śKatieâ€ť C. (Adkins) Ressler.
She was a lifetime resident of Whitley County and attended Etna Troy Grade School and Indiana School for the Blind. She worked at Passages, Inc. for 30 years.
Ruth N. Cox, 99, a resident of Lake Township in Allen County and widow of Lawrence V. Cox, passed away at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Hamilton House in Fort Wayne where she had resided for the past two years.
Mrs. Cox was born on Nov. 5, 1912, in Kosciusko County, a daughter of Amiel N. and Lula Mae (Nichols) Green. She spent her formative years in Eel River Township, and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1931.
On Sept. 1, 1931, she was married to Lawrence V. Cox, and had moved to her home in Lake Township in 1943 from Cromwell.
SOUTH WHITLEY â€” Larry L. Crawford, 62, of South Whitley, died at 2:08 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne where he was admitted Wednesday.
He was born Oct. 12, 1949, in Fort Wayne, a son of Phil M. and Genevieve L. (Hertsel) Crawford.
He was a lifelong resident of South Whitley with the exception of a year near Larwill. He graduated from South Whitley High School.
On Oct. 17, 1970, he was united in marriage to Alice F. May. Mrs. Crawford died Aug. 25, 2011.
He was a bassoon and oboe maker for Fox Products for 34 years.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Gertrude A. Brock, 100, of Columbia City and formerly of South Whitley, died at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Parkview Oaks.
She was born Jan. 18, 1912, in South Bend, a daughter of Lee O. and Florence (Carbiener) Walters. She graduated from Central High School in South Bend.
On March 4, 1933, she married Loyal B. Riley.
In 1936 they moved to South Whitley from Nappanee. Mr. Riley died in 1951.
On Jan. 27, 1957, she married Orda Hare. They always made their home in South Whitley. Mr. Hare died in 1974.
Dale Parsley, 85, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2012, in Lewisville, Texas.
Born in South Whitley, Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis, and is survived by daughters, Linda Marshall and Karen Howe, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Retired from International Harvester after 30 years, Dale was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korea and a life member of the VFW 10006 and American Legion 296.
A private grave-side service will be held in Fort Wayne at a later time.
