Ardith Fay Baker, 81, of Columbia City, passed away at 7:40 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor Inc., Columbia City.
Born March 29, 1930, in Thorncreek Township, she was the daughter of Arthur Henry and Marie Helen (Fullmer) Baron.
Her formative years were spent in Columbia City and Whitley County where she attended Thorncreek Elementary School and Columbia City High School.
On Nov. 9, 1947, she was united in marriage to Harold Oran Baker. In 1969, she and her family moved to Meridian, Miss. where her husband took a position as a tool and die supervisor.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Martha I. Long, 83, of Columbia City, died Thursday morning, Feb. 16, 2012, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since Oct. 14, 2011.
She was born Feb. 29, 1928, in Warren, a daughter of George E. and Mable (Moyer) Long.
In 1930, her family moved to Mooresville and in 1943 to Columbia City.
She graduated from Columbia City High School in 1946 and attended Manchester College for two years.
CHURUBUSCO â€” Pauline McBride, 89, of Churubusco, died at 7:10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at her residence in Churubusco.
She was born Feb. 14, 1923, in Churubusco, a daughter of Bert J. and Edith (Bice) Grim.
On June 7, 1941, she was married in Angola to Ralph R. McBride, who preceded her in death Nov. 13, 1992.
Dale E. Geiger, 78, of rural Columbia City, passed away at 4:34 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Fla., where he spent his winters.
Mr. Geiger was born Dec. 11, 1933, in Columbia City, a son of Clifton J. â€śJakeâ€ť and Irene (Krider) Geiger.
He spent his formative years in rural Columbia City all within a mile of his current residence.
He lived at his current residence since 1965 and was a dairy farmer for 17 years. He was also a grain farmer until he retired at the age of 70.
On Jan. 18, 1958 he was married in Decatur to Janice Irene Owen.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Jessie I. Brandom, 99, of rural Columbia City, died at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at Covington Manor, Fort Wayne.
She was born Feb. 8, 1913, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of David Henry and Anna Ethel (Zumbrum) McCoy.
Her formative years were spent in the Arcola area. She graduated from Arcola
On Nov. 11, 1939, she was united in marriage to John Clifford Brandom, Sr.
He died May 18, 1983.
Gerald R. Mansdorfer, 76 of Liberty Township, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at 10:06 a.m.
He was born in Jefferson Township on Jan. 26, 1936, the son of Marguerite and Raymond Mansdorfer.
Gerald was a quality assurance supervisor for the Department of Defense for 27 years.
He was a member of Jefferson Chapel Methodist Church.
On Sept. 16, 1956, Gerald married Donna (DeBolt) Mansdorfer.
James L. Lawrence, 73, of Whitley County, died on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 in Pensacola, Fla.
He was born July 19, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late Richard and Florence (Lytle) Lawrence.
He was a devoted Christian and member of the St. Johnâ€™s Lutheran Church Lake Township. He was a humble man and his strong faith led his life.
We will never forget his solitary love for his family. The Air Force veteran was a crew chief while stationed in France.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Ruth O. Ross, 94, of Columbia City, passed away at 10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor Inc., Columbia City.
Born Feb. 9, 1918, in Jelloway, Knox County, Ohio, she was the daughter of Charles E. Birkhold and Onata Zoe (Snellenberger) Birkhold-Jeffery.
She graduated from Paulding High School, Ohio with the class of 1936.
On Jan. 6, 1936, she married Francis W. Ross in Hillsdale, Mich.
LIGONIER â€” Betty J. Minnick, 83, of Ligonier, formerly of North Webster and Syracuse, died at 2:24 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Larwill, to Cecil H. & Rachel Ann (Friend) Paulus.
She was married on Nov. 23, 1946, in North Webster to Harry E. Minnick Jr. who survives.
HUNTINGTON â€” Jack P. Barlow, Sr., 70 of Huntington, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at The Heritage of Huntington.
He was born Nov. 23, 1941, in Detroit, a son of William Henry and Lena Mae (Harlow) Barlow.
He was united in marriage to Rebecca J. Bedwell on Jan 19, 1962, in Livonia, Mich. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Jack P. Barlow, Jr. of Huntington; a daughter, Kimberly J. Wood of Huntington; a sister, Virginia L. Tappan of Mio, Michigan; two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William C. Barlow.
