Hilda V. Wood, 84, of Tekonsha, Mich. passed away Nov. 30, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center. She was born Jan. 27, 1926 in Churubusco to Harry and Florence (Campbell) Shroyer.
She lived in Tekonsha since 1973 after living in Pennsylvania and Indiana.
Hilda is survived by her children; Max (Janette) Wood, Patricia (Richard) Troxel, Russell (Sue) Wood, Linda Barnes, Sharon (Rich) Karn and David Wood; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Kay (Ted) Sutorious; a brother, Larry (Sue) Shroyer; and many nieces and nephews.

Samuel I. Watkins, 77, of rural South Whitley died at 11:43 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne where he was transported earlier in the evening.
He was born Feb. 6, 1933 in Breathitt County, Vancleve, Ky. a son of Ballard and Lida (Smith) Watkins. He completed his education in the Perry County Schools.
A United States Army Veteran, he served in Europe during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged Aug. 31, 1961.

Marilyn C. Barker, 81, of Pierceton, died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 at her residence at Peabody Retirement Community.
Born in Pierceton, she was a daughter of Jacob Clair and Catherine Marie (Beigh) McCarter. She married Harold T. Barker, Jan. 16, 1949 in Pierceton.
A 1947 Pierceton High School graduate, she was an office clerk for L.M. Berry retiring in 1987 after 18 years.
Wayne B. Howenstine, 47, of Leesburg, passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010 at his home. He was born Sept. 26, 1963 in Huntington, a son of Jay H. and Myrtle Alice (Oxley) Howenstine.
Survivors include a sister, Rhonda Ousley and a brother, Steve Howenstine.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & CR 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Wyman of the North Webster Church of the Brethren officiating. Burial will follow at the North Webster Cemetery (Mock Addition).
Mary Lee Smith, 76, of Huntington, passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at 10:20 p.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor.
Born Feb. 21, 1934 in Chicago, Ill., she was a daughter of Arthur and Ada (Harrison) Martinez.
Survivors include her husband, Garland Lee Smith; a daughter, Tami (Mark) Dular; a son, Bradley Smith; four brothers, Arthur Martinez, John Martinez, Paul Martinez and George Martinez; and two sisters, Berniece Jerique and Georgie Baker.
Robert C. Miller, 84, of Plymouth died at 12 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth. He had been in declining health for a couple of years.
Born May 22, 1926 in Columbia City, he was a son of William and Margaurite (Klingaman) Miller. He graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1944 and served honorably and proudly in the U.S. Army in Europe from Sept. 6, 1944 to June 21, 1946 during World War II, receiving a Bronze Star for bravery while serving.

Logan E. “Bubba” Templeton, 21, of Columbia City, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was born June 23, 1989 to Carson E. and Tamera M. (Schinbeckler) Templeton.
A 2008 graduate of Churubusco High School, he was currently employed at C & A Tool as a machine mechanic since 2007. Logan was also enrolled at Ivy Tech Community College in the welding program. He was a lifetime resident of Whitley County and was active in FFA and 4-H for nine years.
Rev. Mr. Milton Webster Folds, Jr., 84, of Churubusco, passed away at 4:26 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010 at his residence. Born Feb. 6, 1926 in Chicago, Ill., he was a son of Milton Webster, Sr. and Jessie (Deacon) Folds.
He lived in Columbia City from 1982-1998 then from 1998-2009 he resided in Churubusco and Phoenix, Ariz. returning to Churubusco in 2009. He graduated from South Shore High School in Chicago with the Class of 1944 and received his Masters of Theology Degree from Notre Dame in 1975. On Aug. 15, 1950, he married Beverly J. East in St. John, Ind.
Margaret Heston, 94, of Albion, formerly of Portland and Crown Point, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2010 in Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.
She was born in Portland, Feb. 2, 1916, a daughter of Harvey and Jesse (Wilson) Humphries. She was married Feb. 22, 1938 to Clayton Heston and he died Jan. 26, 1982.
She had worked for United Telephone Company, Artcraft Sporting Goods and Dunkirk Lumber Company. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Portland.
Tony L. Gaff, 91, of rural Larwill, died at 5:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010 at Parkview Main, Fort Wayne where he had been admitted Nov. 21.
He was born April 6, 1919 in Whitley County, a son of Harry H. and Viva (Pippenger) Gaff. He spent his formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School.
On April 9, 1944 he was united in marriage to E. Louise Hively, they made their home in Jefferson Township.
