Sarah Ellen Puff, 90, passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011.
Born in Noble County, she was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are her son, Paul Puff of Canada; daughters, Hope (Tom) Noll and Wanda Puff both of Fort Wayne, Dorothy Riley of Canada, and Carol Bowen of Virginia; sisters, Pearl Secrist of Oregon, Alice Parker of Larwill, Grace Brower and Geraldine Dailey, both of Columbia City; 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Donald L. â€śBuckâ€ť Buchanan, 89, of Columbia City, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2011 at The Hearth at Sycamore Village where he had been a resident since June 2008.
He was born May 13, 1922 in Montevideo, Minn. to Leon G. and Alma (Wick) Buchanan.
His formative years were spent in Montevideo where he graduated from Montevideo High School.
On June 19, 1943 he was united in marriage to Valeria V. Bonk. They made their home in Montevideo before moving to Birmingham, Mich. and later Fort Wayne.
Rodney Allen Moog, 46, of Columbia City, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 at his residence.
Born on July 15, 1965, he was the son of Allen and Shirley (Speaker) Moog.
He graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1983.
He worked as a supervisor at The Classic Company, Fort Wayne and from 1992-2009 he was employed by Dana, Columbia City.
He was an international certified scuba diver and loved all the Fort Wayne sports teams, especially the Komets.
CROMWELL â€” Laura G. Squires, 91, of Cromwell, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011 at North Ridge Village, Albion.
She was born March 28, 1920 in Portland, Indiana, a daughter of Howard L. and Etta (Ashley) Williams.
Her formative years were spent in the Portland area where she completed her education.
On Dec. 23, 1944 she was united in marriage to Robert R. Squires. They made their home in Fort Wayne until 1989 when they moved to Knapp Lake. Mr. Squires died Oct. 12, 1999.
Donald E. Gumm, 75, a resident of Shriner Lake near Columbia City and a former resident of Churubusco, passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2011.
Mr. Gumm was born in Salem, Ind. April 12, 1936, a son of Bleve J. and Katherine (Seals) Gumm.
On April 8, 1955, he was married in Hamilton, Ohio to Shirley J. Kent.
The couple spent most of their married lives in this area, and moved from Churubusco to their present lake home in 1996.
He retired from Food Marketing in Fort Wayne after more than 30 years of service.
Frances E. Stangland, 96, of Albion, died Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 2:20 p.m. in her residence.
She was born Jan. 18, 1915, in Noble County to Marshall and Frances (Stout) Young.
On Nov. 15, 1935, in Wolf Lake, she married Omar Stangland. He preceded her in death Aug. 31, 1997.
Mrs. Stangland, a lifetime area resident, graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1932. She was a teacherâ€™s aide and worked in the cafeteria at Wolf Lake School.
She and her husband moved to the Stangland Family Farm March 13, 1936. For many years, they wintered in Bradenton, Fla.
Richard P. â€śRickâ€ť Ambrose, Sr., 75, of South Whitley, passed away at 3:05 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2011 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Born Aug. 12, 1935 in Jamestown, N.Y., he was the son of Benny M. and Bernice (Goldfinch) Ambrose.
Raised in New York where he attended Jamestown High School, he moved to Whitley County in 1958.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958.
On May 25, 1984 ,he married Patricia M. (King) Deubner in Whitley County.
Marjorie E. Bennett, 84, a former resident of Collins and more recently of rural Cromwell, died at 8:01 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor in Syracuse.
She was born in Eel River Township, Allen County on Sept. 10, 1926, to Bert and Loudema (Shock) Ferguson.
On Jan. 30, 1945, she was married in Whitley County to Garland E. Bennett.
He preceded her in death Nov. 19, 2005.
Mary Crain, 86, of Pigeon Forge, Tenn. died Wednesday, Aug. 03, 2011.
She was born May 28, 1925 in Michigan .
She married Raymond Crain in 1964. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Susie Stonert, Lynda Gilbert, Pam Crain, Jim Crain; Ron Kramer; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. Monday at Atchleyâ€™s Smoky Mountain Chapel in Pigeon Forge with Father Joseph Brando officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens.

FORT WAYNE â€” Toni J. Wood, 30, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, after a lifetime illness.
She was born in Fort Wayne Nov. 18, 1980 to Ronald D. Wood and Judith (Minton) Wheeler.
