Harold E. Snyder, 84, of Dayton, Ohio, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Dayton.
He was born June 22, 1927 to Otis D.E. and Rosa I. (Ebersole) Snyder in Columbia City.
He graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1945.
He joined the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict from 1945-1947.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen Bandelier of Columbia City; sons, Carl Snyder of Nappanee and John Snyder of Antwerp, Ohio; daughter, Brenda McCormick of Bourbon; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Sandra S. Sauers, 57, of Columbia City, died at 2:32 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne where she was admitted on Thursday, June 30.
She was born Jan. 20, 1954 in Columbia City, a daughter of Foy F. and Ruth R. (Witmer) Sauers.
Her formative years were spent in Larwill and she graduated from Columbia City Joint High School.
She made her home at Knapp Lake and Pierceton before returning to Columbia City in 1990.
She was employed at Alcoils, retiring from Colfax with over 20 years of service.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Tyler A. Andreas, 17, of Columbia City, died suddenly on Sunday, July 3, 2011 due to a previously unknown heart condition.
He was born Oct. 18, 1993 to William and Michele Andreas.
He had just completed his junior year at Columbia City High School where he was an active student, playing on the football team as a corner back, wide receiver, and running track.
He served as treasurer for both the Key Club and the National Honor Society. He was an academic tutor and loved his community and served as a volunteer for many various charitable events.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Evelyn Annette Short, 84, of Columbia City, passed away at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Millers Merry Manor in Columbia City, after a long illness.
A daughter of Hobart Murphy and Zella (Newberry) Murphy, she was born June 3, 1927 in Clinchco, Va.
She spent her formative years in West Virginia.
On Feb. 26, 1949, she married William T. Short in Clintwood, Va. They settled in this community on Sept. 7, 1962.
She worked for Dana Corp. in Churubusco for three years. In 1983 she went to work for Sroufe MFC., in Ligonier retiring in 1988.
FORT WAYNE â€” Pauline M. Dreyer, 88, of Fort Wayne, died at 7:49 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born Oct. 12, 1922 in Washington Township to Carl S. and Minnie E. (Hunziker) Dreyer.
She is survived by her nephew, Steven C. (Hazel) Walker of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Josephine Walker.
Visitation will take place at Memorial Chapel on the campus of Lutheran Life Villages, Fort Wayne, Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m.
Mildred A. Becker, 82, of Fort Wayne, died at 10:40 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Renaissance Village, Fort Wayne.
She was born Aug. 30, 1928, to the late Daniel and Loutish (King) Ross.
HUNTINGTON â€” Jerry E. Easterday, 65, of Huntington, died Sunday July 3, 2011 at 7:05 p.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
He was born Nov. 17, 1945 in Whitley County, to Kenneth R. and Eileen (Minnick) Easterday.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Easterday of Goshen; his mother Eileen Easterday of South Whitley; a brother, Jack of Fort Wayne, four sisters Bonnie Watson of South Whitley, Mary Kinney of South Whitley, Belle Snyder of Fort Wayne and Diane Kramer of Columbia City.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Mable I. â€śBunnyâ€ť Herrick, 84, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at her daughterâ€™s home at High Lake. She was born in Fort Wayne Oct. 1, 1926 to Earl and Lola (Hitchcock) Rabbitt.
She was raised in Indiana and graduated with the Class of 1944 from Rome City High School.
Following her marriage to Virgil N. Herrick Jan. 27, 1944, they established their home in North Manchester.
They moved to Colorado where she resided for seven and a half years, and from 1967 to 1995 they lived in Larwill.
LAFAYETTE â€” James Daniel Heinbaugh, 51, of Lafayette, died at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at his home.
He was born Dec. 9, 1959 in Belvidere, Ill., a son of William Dale and Sharyl (Kerlin) Heinbaugh.
He served two terms in the U.S. Army, serving during the Gulf War.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Richard Ira Ramp, 89, a resident of Columbia City, died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in the Millerâ€™s Merry Manor.
He was born March 12, 1922 in Columbia City, a son of Ira and Eva Johnson Ramp.
He attended the Coesse and McClellan grade schools and graduated from Columbia City High School in 1940.
He was first employed at the Columbia Woolen Mill until February, 1942 when he was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving as a top turret gunner on a B-29 bomber stationed in England.
