Rick D. Grable, 57, of Big Lake, Noble County, died at 11:14 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at his residence. Born July 5, 1953, he was a son of the late Richard D. and Barbara J. (VanHouten) Grable.
He was a graduate of Central Noble High School with the Class of 1971. He then went on to earn his real estate and brokers license. Since 1989 he has owned and operated his own real estate firm, Grable and Associates Realty in Columbia City. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 189.
Sally Kay Bitting, peacefully passed away on April 28, 2011 at Northridge Village Nursing Home in Albion, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was the youngest daughter of Ford Z. and Mary Emeline Bitting. Sally was born April 17, 1954 and was a 1972 graduate of Central Noble High School.
She spent most of her adult life in San Diego working for a branch of the Federal Government. Sally moved back to Indiana in 2003 to spend more time with her mother. It was during this time that Sally shared her love of gardening and garage-saling with her mother.
John Guy Dambra Jr., 67, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 3 p.m. April 26, 2011 at Parkview North Hospital following complications to cancer treatments. He was born in Ipswich, Mass. Aug. 8, 1942 to John Guy and Laura C. (Piecuch) Dambra Sr. He served in the United States Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Dambra; and his children, Penny Turner, Gina White, Michele Line, Jeffrey Dambra, Jay Dambra, John G. Dambra III, Andrea Perez, Sarah Hodgin and Jennifer Hodgin.
Beverly M. Lewis, 83, a resident of Fort Wayne and widow of Jack L. Lewis, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home in Fort Wayne.
She was born March 15, 1928 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Lloyd and Bernice (Brown) Reynold. She was the widow of Jack L. Lewis.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald C. Lewis and Donald L. Lewis; a daughter, Mari Davis; and a brother, Jerry A. Reynolds.
Ronald Alan Brown, 70, of South Whitley, passed away at 10:43 a.m. at his home Thursday, April 28, 2011. Born Dec. 27, 1940 in Rankin, Ill., he was a son of Lester and Ruth Bernice (Harvey) Brown.
George Abraham Parkison, formerly of Knapp Lake, died at 3 p.m. April 26, 2011 at Avalon Village, Ligonier where he had been a resident since December 2009.
He was born Feb. 24, 1920, a son of the late Roy and Bessie (Fuller) Parkison. His formative years were spent in the Wolf Lake area. He graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1938.
On Jan. 20, 1942 he entered the United States Army and served in the Pacific Theater. He attained the rank of sergeant and was honorably discharged Sept. 28, 1945.
Opal Longenecker, 86, of Columbia City, died at 10:20 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Covington Manor Health & Rehab, Fort Wayne where she had been a resident since August 2010.
She was born Aug. 6, 1924 in Eel River Township, Allen County a daughter of Clyde Franklin and Elta Edna (Disler) Longenecker. She attended the Madden School for six years, Eel River Perry School and graduated from Huntertown High School.
She made her home in Churubusco until 1972 when she moved to Columbia City. In 1997 she became a resident at Renaissance Village.
Ralph A. âStanâ Pressler, 88, of Huntington passed away at 4:17 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was united in marriage to Patricia A. Shively Feb. 27, 1954 in Churubusco. His wife survives.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, with one hour of additional visitation prior the service at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 1000 Flaxmill Road, Huntington with Pastor Marti Lundy officiating.
Martha Lee Wood, 74, a resident of Washington Township, Noble County, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 in the Northridge Village and Rehabilitation Center in Albion.
Born Dec. 7, 1935, she was a daughter of J.C. and Ethel Scoby.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Walter Wood; two sons, Brian E. Wood and Leonard Wood; and a daughter, Theresa M. McClure.
A family memorial service will be Thursday at the Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Chaplain Bob Rollins of the Heartland Hospice officiating. There will be no visitation.
Joycelin A. Cramer, 79, of Columbia City, Ind. passed away at 4:24 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 at her residence. Born Dec. 6, 1931 in Mentone, she was a daughter of Lee L. and Helen N. (Personett) Blue.
She has been a Whitley County resident since her marriage in 1951. She graduated from Bourbon High School in Bourbon, with the Class of 1949. On March 9, 1951, she married Joseph R. Cramer in Columbia City. She worked for Precession Plastics for 13 years.
