Augusta Dujardin Carner, 85, passed away and now rests in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus. She was a daughter of Alberic and Irene Dujardin of Mishawaka. She married Gerald Edward Carner Sept. 17, 1949.
A lifelong Mishawaka resident before moving to Columbia City, she spent the past six years with her daughter, Denise (David) Heckman.
She was a loving and dedicated mother and there are no words to describe the love she had towards her family and all she knew.
Michael D. Gingher, 67, of Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at Glencrest Nursing & Rehab Center in Chicago where he was admitted Oct. 5 after an extended illness.
He was born March 23, 1943 in Fort Wayne, a son of Harold R. and Sarah A. (Arnold) Gingher. He lived throughout the United States while his father was stationed in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from Quantico High School.
He served in the United States Marine Corps for 31 years, retiring in 1991.
He also retired from General Electric with 31 years of service.
Joe W. Krider, 94, a resident of rural Churubusco in Allen County, passed away at 7:40 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at his residence in Eel River Township following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Krider was born April 25, 1916 in Smith Township, south of Collins, a son of Ralph and Vida (Smith) Krider, and was a lifelong resident of this area. On June 6, 1937 he was married in Eel River Township to Grace Chapman, and had lived at his current address since 1949.
Cameron Robert Amber, 20, a resident of Churubusco, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, from the results of a two-vehicle accident on U. S. 33, south of Churubusco.
Amber was born Feb. 5, 1990 in Columbia City, a son of Robert C. and Marna (Friskney) Amber and was a lifelong resident of Churubusco. He graduated from Churubusco High School in 2009, and was the schoolâ€™s quarterback for its semistate football team in 2007. He had served with the U. S. Air Force, coached Churubusco Youth Football and enjoyed his diesel truck.
Madeline Mary Bordine, 86, a resident of Millerâ€™s Merry Manor in Columbia City, died at 2:05 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010. She was born May 5, 1924 in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of the late Paul William and Celia (Kowalski) Bloom. She was married to Max Zaler, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Zaler and a daughter, Barbara Meyer; a brother, David Bloom; and a sister, Rita Ramage.
Honoring Madelineâ€™s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
Entombment will be at a later date in the Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park Cemetery in Lavonia, Michigan.
Hilda V. Wood, 84, of Tekonsha, Mich. passed away Nov. 30, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center. She was born Jan. 27, 1926 in Churubusco to Harry and Florence (Campbell) Shroyer.
She lived in Tekonsha since 1973 after living in Pennsylvania and Indiana.
Hilda is survived by her children; Max (Janette) Wood, Patricia (Richard) Troxel, Russell (Sue) Wood, Linda Barnes, Sharon (Rich) Karn and David Wood; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Kay (Ted) Sutorious; a brother, Larry (Sue) Shroyer; and many nieces and nephews.
Samuel I. Watkins, 77, of rural South Whitley died at 11:43 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne where he was transported earlier in the evening.
He was born Feb. 6, 1933 in Breathitt County, Vancleve, Ky. a son of Ballard and Lida (Smith) Watkins. He completed his education in the Perry County Schools.
A United States Army Veteran, he served in Europe during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged Aug. 31, 1961.
Marilyn C. Barker, 81, of Pierceton, died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 at her residence at Peabody Retirement Community.
Born in Pierceton, she was a daughter of Jacob Clair and Catherine Marie (Beigh) McCarter. She married Harold T. Barker, Jan. 16, 1949 in Pierceton.
A 1947 Pierceton High School graduate, she was an office clerk for L.M. Berry retiring in 1987 after 18 years.
Wayne B. Howenstine, 47, of Leesburg, passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010 at his home. He was born Sept. 26, 1963 in Huntington, a son of Jay H. and Myrtle Alice (Oxley) Howenstine.
Survivors include a sister, Rhonda Ousley and a brother, Steve Howenstine.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & CR 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Wyman of the North Webster Church of the Brethren officiating. Burial will follow at the North Webster Cemetery (Mock Addition).
Mary Lee Smith, 76, of Huntington, passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at 10:20 p.m. at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor.
Born Feb. 21, 1934 in Chicago, Ill., she was a daughter of Arthur and Ada (Harrison) Martinez.
Survivors include her husband, Garland Lee Smith; a daughter, Tami (Mark) Dular; a son, Bradley Smith; four brothers, Arthur Martinez, John Martinez, Paul Martinez and George Martinez; and two sisters, Berniece Jerique and Georgie Baker.
