Phyllis J. Loughner, 87, of Ligonier, passed away at 6:46 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Avalon Village Nursing Home in Ligonier. She was born Aug. 3, 1923 to Edgar and Mildred (Babcock) Martin in Elkhart County.
She is survived by a son, Steve Troup of Ward, Ark. and a sister, Juanita Haines.
She was laid to rest in Marion National Cemetery in Marion.

Deborah Jo Moore, 59, of Columbia City, died at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. Born April 26, 1952 in Kendallville, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Janice (Harp) Larson.
She graduated from East Noble High School with the Class of 1970. She married Dennis Moore at Faith UMC Kendallville in 1972. She was a licensed appraiser and owned her own business, Moore Appraisals. She was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church, where she headed up the mid-week meal ministry.
Ruth Rozelma Imler, 91, of Sebring, Fla, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011, at her home. She was born Jan. 29, 1920, to Alfred W. and Ethel M. (Gripe) Kyler in Pierceton, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1987, coming from Columbia City. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, gardening and being outdoors. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Harold) Fosnaugh of Warsaw, Rebecca Imler of Sebring and Diane Imler of Sebring; a son, Dan Imler of Albion; and sister, Ruby Hossler of Warsaw.
Mary A. Rice, 88, of Columbia City, died at 3:40 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2011 at Millers Merry Manor.
She was born May 6, 1923 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of the late Edward and Edna (Lehman) Baker. She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne. She attended Central High School.
On Feb. 11, 1945 she was united in marriage to Merlin A. Rice. Mr. Rice died March 16, 2003.
Victoria L. âVickiâ Hanes, 50, of Huntington, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011. She was born April 15, 1961 to Doug and Judy (Koons) Bowyer. She worked for the United States Postal Service for the past 17 years and most recently as a Postmaster in Yoder and Bippus.
Surviving family include her husband, Dan Hanes; daughter, Amanda Hanes; step-son, Matt (Shannon) Hanes; parents, Doug (Judy) Bowyer; brother, Dave (Jill) Bowyer; grandmother, Patricia Koons; mother-in-law, Carolyn Springer; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen M. Whaley, 100, widow of Waldo Whaley, died Friday, May 20, 2011 at Millerâs Merry Manor, Columbia City. Born Jan. 21, 1911 in Steuben County, she was a daughter of the late Morris W. and Anna L. (Goodrich) Hanson.
Survivors include a son, Lee (Pat) Whaley of South Whitley.
At Mrs. Whaleyâs request there will be no visitation or service. Burial will be at a later date at Jamestown Cemetery in Steuben County.
Brent William Bartol, 43, of Columbia City, died unexpectedly at 2:45 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2011 at Parkview Whitley Hospital Emergency Room, Columbia City. Born May 5, 1968, he was a son of William C. and Nancy A. (Stoll) Bartol.
Born in Fort Wayne, he graduated from Snider High School with the Class of 1987. He attended Ivy Tech Community College where he studied computer science. He worked as a service technician and technician manager for office equipment. He attended Columbia City United Methodist Church and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Nelson W. Keister, 89, of Columbia City (Tri-Lakes), died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the home of his son. He was born Nov. 25, 1921 in Merriam to the late Albert and Gertrude (Addis) Keister.
Mary J. Wells, 86, of Columbia City, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2011 at her residence.
Born Nov. 30, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Grace (DeGroot) Lewellen.
Survivors include her husband, William E. Wells; daughters, Lynn Miller, Dee Richhart and Vicky Stanley; and sons, Stephan Wells and Timothy Wells.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at C.M. Sloan & Sons, 1327 Wells St., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Denny Coppens officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial in Fairview Cemetery.
Marjorie J. âMargeâ Chidester, formerly of Fort Wayne, and currently a resident of Sarasota, Fla., died Thursday, May 12, 2011. Born July 23, 1925, she was a daughter of Charles V. and Carrie E. (Gallogly) David and a widow of John Chidester.
Survivors include a son, Dean J. Chidester.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6700 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Pastor John Gardner of Plymouth Congregational Church of Christ officiating.
