COLUMBIA CITY â€” George R. Rentovich, 81, a resident of Jefferson Township since 1990, died at 11:40 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011 in his home.
He was born Dec. 12, 1929 in Detroit to George and Anna Lesifko Rentovich.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tara L. Toland Rentovich, who died June 5, 2009.
There will be no visitation or services.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” JACK R. HOAG, 90, a former resident of Yakima, Wash. died at 6:10 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2011 at Markle Health and Rehabilitation where he had been a resident since June 2010.
He was born Nov. 14, 1920 in Iowa to Otto and Bernice Hoag.
Surviving relatives include a son, Jerry Hoag, and a daughter, Jacqueline Williamson, both of Columbia City.
There will be no visitation or services.
Churubusco â€” Elaine Carol Krider, 64, a resident of Churubusco, died at 12:50 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
She was born Nov. 20, 1946 in Decatur to Marcus and Marcella (Gehres) Reidenbach.
On July 24, 1971 she married David R. Krider in Monroeville.
Betty Lou (Beasley) Long, 82, of 1307 E. Market Street, Warsaw, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 7:20 p.m. in Kosciusko Community Hospitalâ€™s emergency room.
She was born Feb. 8, 1929 in Whitley County to Ralph Dedrofth Beasley and Icy May (Loe) Beasley.
She was married on July 1, 1950 to Charles Long, Jr. â€śLongieâ€ť who preceded her in death April 18, 2006.
Betty was a homemaker and a resident of Kosciusko County since 1950.
Michael Adair, 45, of Kimmell, died at 2:21 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born April 13, 1966 to Richard and Carolyn (Conkling) Adair in Havelock, N.C.
Surviving are his parents, Richard and Carolyn Adair of Cromwell; two siblings, Michelle Adair of Cromwell and Matthew Adair of Albion; his grandfather, Burlyn Conkling of Cromwell; four nephews and one niece.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Rensner officiating. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell.
Rose Elnor Kaufman, 87, passed away July 15, 2011 in Bluffton.
She was born Oct. 3, 1923 to J. C. and Edith Spade in Branch County, Michigan.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Max Kaufman; five sons Jerry (Patricia), Ted (Sharon), Phil (Cheryl), Dave, Bill (Jane) Kaufman and a daughter Marsha Gemmer (Bob), eleven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Rose devoted her life to her family and was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
After working as head of housekeeping at Caylor-Nickel Clinic, she retired in 1981.
Burnice E. Toor , 87, passed away Monday, July 18, 2011 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
She was a native and lifetime resident of Fort Wayne and worked as a secretary with Fort Wayne Community Schools for 27 years, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of United Faith Presbyterian Church and also volunteered at the Embassy Theater and St. Joseph Hospital.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Dâ€™Maris Belvetta Grant, 97, died Monday, July 18, 2011.
She was born Dâ€™Maris Palmer, a daughter of Zelma (Hile) and James Palmer on Feb. 2, 1914 in Pierceton.
She graduated from Columbia City High School in 1932 and obtained her teaching degree from Indiana University where she belonged to the Delta Gamma sorority. She was an honorary colonel of the Reserve Officers Training Corps and a member of the Pleiades.
Upon returning to Columbia City, she taught second and third grade children at the McClellan and West Ward Schools.
Donna Gordon Dowell, 89, a resident of Churubusco, passed away at 6:35 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City.
She had been a patient at The Oaks in Columbia City, and was taken to the hospital one week ago.
Donna was born Sept. 8, 1921 in Allen County, a daughter of William H. and Myra J. (Worrick) Smith.
She spent her youth in rural Whitley County and graduated from Jefferson Center High School in 1939.
On June 7, 1941 she was married to Junior F. Gordon.
FORT WAYNE â€” William W. Steffey, 85, a resident of rural Avilla and long-time Noble County farmer, died at 7:50 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
He was born April 17, 1926 in Mankato, Minn., a son of Vern J. and Maude (Neuhouser) Steffey.
He married Mary Leslie in 1957. She preceded him in death in 1986.
Surviving relatives include his partner, Gail M. Olson of Avilla; two children Andrew J. Steffey of Albion and Cindy Chalfant of Land-O-Lakes, Fla; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
