Robert L. Adams, 93, of Sebring, Florida died on March 3, 2011. He had lived at the Palms of Sebring in Florida and was receiving Good Shepherd Hospice Care.
He was born in Van Buren Township, Putnam County, Ohio to Virgil and Ruth Adams. The family moved to Indiana in 1927 and Robert graduated from Lapaz High School, Lapaz in 1935. He married Mary E. Martin Dec. 11, 1937. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary just before she died March 9, 2010.
James W. Tomlinson, Sr., 75, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 8:45 a.m. March 3, 2011, at North Ridge Village Nursing Home, Albion. Born Dec. 2, 1935, he was a son of Wesley and Amy (Helmes) Tomlinson.
He served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1967. He was married to the late Ellen (Genda) Herendeen.
Survivors include his daughters, Debra Dellinger and Shelley Mawhorter; son, Robert Tomlinson; sister, Celia Miller; step-sons, Walter Herendeen and John Herendeen.
Gregory D. Johnson, 57, of Warsaw, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born Sept. 2, 1953 in Huntington, he was a son of David Ralph â€śBoagâ€ť and Mary Ellen (Robinson) Johnson, Sr.
He was a construction worker and cement finisher for many years.
Besides his mother, survivors include a son, Wesley C. Johnson of Warsaw; three sisters, Jorie (James) Webster of Warsaw, Kristine (Larry) Ummel of Kimmel and Leslie (Ray) Barna of Vandalia, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his father on July 11, 2005 and a brother, David Johnson, Jr., Jan. 18, 1969.
Pauline McGuire, 90, a resident of rural Churubusco and wife of Carl McGuire, passed away at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the family residence in Smith Township following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. McGuire was born in Churubusco May 9, 1920, a daughter of Charles and Alice (Wappes) Weidman, and spent all of her life in this area.
On May 8, 1943 she was married in Churubusco to Carl McGuire. The couple lived in Green Township in Noble County for a period, and have lived at their present farm home in Smith Township since 1949.
Ralph Whaley, 80, a resident of rural Albion, passed away at 9:42 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Whaley was born March 22, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio, and spent his formative years there. As a young man he served with the United States Army, and later reenlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Donald Eugene Boner, 72, a lifelong Etna Troy Township, Whitley County farmer, died at 10:42 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 in the emergency room of Parkview Whitley Hospital where he was transported after becoming suddenly ill at home.
He was born April 29, 1938 in Warsaw, a son of Carold W. and Lois L. (Kitson) Boner. He graduated from Larwill High School in 1956 and received a degree in animal science from Purdue University.
On Sept. 26, 1961 he enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged Aug. 31, 1967.
Robert Joseph â€śBobâ€ť LeClair, 68, of Goodlettsville, Tenn., died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011.
He is survived by his daughter, Renee (Michael) Stairhime, and grandchildren, Adriane, Haley, and Blake Stairhime, all of Hicksville, Ohio; special friends, Louise Caskey, and her mother, Estelle Caskey; sister, Charlotte Wyman; nieces, Mary (Dick) King, of Columbia City and Jean Miller.
A memorial service will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, Tenn., at 3 p.m. Wednesday with visitation from 1 p.m. until service time.
Suzanne â€śSusieâ€ť Heingartner, 77, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in South Whitley, she was a bookkeeper with Columbia Liquor and Sears retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Paulâ€™s Lutheran Church and was an avid IU fan.
Family requests all public attending to wear IU or red and white apparel to the funeral service.
Edwina L. Feighner, 80, a former resident of Thorncreek Township and more recently of Fort Wayne, passed away at 11:50 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Renaissance Village. She had been a patient there for the past two years.
Mrs. Feighner was born near New Haven Sept. 8, 1930, a daughter of Howard E. and Emma Lucille (Ladig) Dawkins. She spent her formative years near New Haven and later in Spencerville and Fort Wayne.
Lucy L. â€śSisâ€ť Ickes, 93, a resident of Churubusco and widow of Churubusco businessman Eugene V. Ickes, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 at her home. Although she had been in declining health, her death was unexpected.
Mrs. Ickes was born Aug. 26, 1917 in LaOtto, a daughter of Peter Charles and Bessie Ann (Rosenogle) Bryie. She graduated from LaOtto High School, and was honored as the Onion Queen as a young lady.
