Rosalie Armstrong, 74

Rosalie H. Armstrong, 74, a resident of Columbia City, died Sunday evening, March 20, 2011 in the Lutheran Hospital where she had been a patient since Friday.
She was born Oct. 8, 1936 in Miami County, Ohio, near Troy, a daughter of Paul and Mildred Brown Williams. Her formative years were spent on the family dairy farm and she graduated from the Miami Central High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Indiana Central College and her masters degree in business from Ball State University.

Norma Mauzy, 77

Norma L. Mauzy, 77, formerly of Lake Township, Allen County, died Saturday evening, March 19, 2011 at Covington Manor where she had been a resident since October 2009.
She was born May 9, 1933 in Kosciusko County, a daughter of Lennel R. and Hazel (Hunter) Weimer. Her formative years were spent in Noble County. She graduated from North Webster High School.
On April 5, 1952 she was united in marriage to Leonard E. Mauzy. They made their home in Kosciusko County until December 1958 when they moved to Lake Township, Allen County.

John Bishop, 73

John C. Bishop, 73, a lifelong resident of South Whitley, died at 2:06 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City where he was admitted on Wednesday.
He was born March 19, 1937 in South Whitley a son of Clair C. and Georgia Doris (Rubrake) Bishop. He graduated from South Whitley High School in 1955.
From December 1956 until December 1961 he served in the United States Army.
On March 18, 1961 he was united in marriage to Marilyn K. Boxell.
He was employed at Manchester Tool & Die for 35 years.

Nora Bair, 90

Nora Jane Bair, 90, a former resident of Green Township in Noble County, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011, at North Ridge Village Nursing Home in Albion following an extended illness.
Ms. Bair was born Feb. 8, 1921 in Noble County, a daughter of Ebony E. and Ada (Haney) Bair. A 1939 graduate of Churubusco High School, she graduated from business college in Fort Wayne, and spent all of her life on the family farm in Green Township.

Lucas Lang, infant

Lucas Allen Lang, infant son of Cayala A. Lang and John M. Galligher, died at 6:22 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Parkview Whitley Hospital where he was born at 5:04 p.m.
Surviving relatives also include grandparents, Robert L. Lang Sr. of Churubusco, Angela S. Lang of Churubusco, Michael A. and Christina M. Galligher of Albion; and great-grandparents, Adabelle Lang of Roanoke, Margaret Simons of Iowa, Raymond Carnes of Arizona and Eleanor Galligher of Avilla.
The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at South Park Annex Cemetery.

June Hadley, 86

June Pauline (Leiter) Hadley, 86, a resident of rural LaOtto and widow of Vaughan A. Hadley, passed away at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Hadley was born June 3, 1924 in Noble County, a daughter of Clarence Samuel and Pearl Edith (Wood) Leiter. She was a widow of Vaughan A. Hadley
The surviving relatives include her daughter, Sandra S. Hadley; two sisters, Mary (Louie) Peduto and Dorothy Martin; a brother, Ray (Patsy) Leiter.

Thomas Jarvis, 76

Thomas C. Jarvis, Sr., 76, of Columbia City, died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Parkview Whitley Hospital. He was born in Olive Hill, Hazard County, Ky. April 13, 1934, son of Ralph Herbert and Virginia Agnes (Edson) Jarvis.
He attended Olive Hill Kentucky School moving to Allen County and in 1991 he moved to Whitley County. He married Sue C. Ford May 23, 1980 at Lake Chapel, Fort Wayne. He worked at Kroger Warehouse receiving dock, Fort Wayne, for 20 years and Wal-Mart, Columbia City, for eight years as a friendly greeter.

Jack Fry, 88

Jack E. Fry, 88, of South Whitley, died at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Renaissance Village where he had been a resident since December 2008
He was born June 15, 1922 in Elwood, a son of Clifford Clayton and Ida Marinda (Bowers) Fry. His formative years were spent in Osgood and Greensburg areas. He completed his education in Nebraska School in Jennings County.
On Nov. 7, 1942 he was inducted in the United States Army, serving in the South Pacific on the Island of Kwajalean during World War II. He was honorably discharged Nov. 8, 1945.

LaVera Utter, 96

LaVera M. Utter, 96, of Mentone, formerly of Athens, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 at her residence.
Born June 12, 1914 in Fulton County, she was a daughter of Russel and Arlean (Morris) Walters. She married Wilbert R. Utter Sept. 3, 1933 in Rochester. He preceded her in death Jan. 4, 2004.
She was a homemaker, traditional farmer’s wife and had been a cook at the Colonial Hotel and several other places around the Rochester area. She had also worked at Hart Schaffner and Marx in Rochester.

Russell Blaugh, 89

Russell L. Blaugh, 89, of Churubusco, passed away at 11:08 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 at The Oaks, Columbia City. Born Oct. 11, 1921 in Huntington County, he was a son of Roy and Eugenia (Shearer) Blaugh.
