Absalom Wilson, 99, of Rome City died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010 at 1:55 a.m. in Lakeland Nursing Center in Angola.
Mr. Wilson was a 1929 graduate of Chippewa High School in Wabash County and received his bachelorâ€™s degree in 1933 from Indiana Central College.
Marianne Clark, age 79, of Columbia City, Ind. passed away at 9:25 am on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City, Ind. Born on Aug. 30, 1931 in Whitley County, Ind. she was the daughter of Fred A. and Coral R. (Bills) Nei.
Richard D. â€śDickâ€ť Heintzelman, age 57, of Columbia City, Ind., died at 4:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis, Ind. He was born on Aug. 29, 1953 to Ross V. and Charleene M.(Kauffman) Heintzelman.
Thelma R. Linsmeyer, 80, a resident of Columbia City, passed away, peacefully in her sleep early Sunday morning, Sept. 19, 2010 at her home.
She was born Feb. 18, 1930 in Eaton, a daughter of Clarence L. and Rosemary Carder Tharp. Her formative years were spent in Eaton where she graduated from high school in 1948. In 1978, she received an associate degree as a licensed practical nurse in Fort Wayne.
Ruth M. Jines, 88, lifetime resident of Wabash, passed away at 10:35 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010 at Renaissance Village.
She was born to the late Richard and Lena (LaSonde) Rhoads April 6, 1922 in Wabash. She married Leslie T. Jines Aug. 30, 1942 and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Dean Jines and Jack L. Jines; and a sister, Lenell Scott.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, IN 46992. Burial will follow in the Friends Cemetery in Wabash County.
Barbara Ann Smith, 70, of Columbia City, died early Sunday morning, Sept. 19, 2010 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne where she was admitted Saturday. She had been in failing health.
She was born May 16, 1940 in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of James C. F. and Winifred B. (Kettle) Barker. Her formative years were spent in Detroit.
On Oct. 6, 1964 she married John D. Malott Sr. They made their home in Tucson, Ariz., later residing in various areas throughout the United States before returning to Tucson in 1997. Mr. Malott died March 19, 1999.
Robert Miller, 91, of Leesburg, Fla., passed away Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at the Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, Fla.
Robert was born Feb. 19, 1919 in Elkhart, a son of Andrew and Blanche (Overmeyer) Miller. On Sept. 12, 1944 he married Betty J. Norris. They made their home in Rochester until 1960 when they moved to Columbia City. Robert was a plumber, member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 166, Ft. Wayne.
He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. In 1982 the Millers retired to Leesburg, Fla.
Donald E. Hyndman, 65, of Fishers, passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Jan. 31, 1945 to Russell and Gladys (Leslie) Hyndman in Fort Wayne.
Donald had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Hyndman; son, Steve Hyndman; daughter, Stephanie Van Skyock; guardian daughter, Tammy Dean; father, Russell Hyndman; and two brothers, Walt Hyndman and Gary Hyndman.
Timothy George Spillers, 49, of Columbia City, died at 7:13 a.m. Sept. 18, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center of West Michigan in Ludington, Mich. after a drowning accident. He was born March 15, 1961 in Jackson, Mich. to James Vernet and Jacqueline Ann (Wright) Spillers.
He was raised in Michigan, moving to Fort Wayne in 1979 and then moved to Whitley County in 1981. He graduated from Jackson High School, Jackson, Mich. with the Class of 1979. He was married on June 12, 1982 at the Dunfee Missionary Church to Sally A. Geiger.
Miriam J. Copp, 84, of rural Columbia City, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born April 29, 1926 in Wallins Creek, Ky., a daughter of Gail Whitcomb and Mildred (Caress) Ellers. Her formative years were spent in Central Kentucky. She graduated salutatorian of Harrodsburg High School and continued her education at Blue Mountain College, Georgetown College and the Indiana School of Music at I.P.F.W.
On April 19, 1947 she was united in marriage to Harold D. Copp. They made their home in Bunker Hill where they established Copp Farm Supply.
