Thelma Evelyn Wolfe, 102, of Columbia City, died at 8:50 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 at The Oaks Living Center where she had been a resident since September.
She was born Feb. 12, 1908 near Essex, Mo., a daughter of James Monroe and Sadie L. (Carlew) Dillard. Her formative years were spent in Missouri.

Martin Trier, 85

Martin H. Trier, 85, a resident of Columbia City, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 at Miller’s Merry Manor.
He was born July 15, 1925 in Washington Township, Whitley County, a son of Martin E. and Lulu (Kunberger) Trier. His formative years were spent in Washington Township. He graduated from Washington Center High School.
On July 14, 1962, he was united in marriage to Naomi Edith Mitchell. They made their home in Columbia City. Mrs. Trier died Dec. 3, 2000.

William Sprowl, 61

William “Bill” Chester Sprowl, 61, of Columbia City, died at 9:52 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010 at his residence. Born April 26, 1949 in Marion, he was a son of Chester H. and Charlotte May (Carter) Sprowl.
On February, 24, 2007 he married Renee Herendeen in Columbia City.

Glenn Frank, 86

Glenn Paul Frank, 86, of Columbia City, died at 6:55 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 at The Oaks where he had been a resident for the past four years.
He was born June 29, 1924 in Portland, a son of Herman R. and Amelia Marie (Fox) Frank. In 1929, the family moved to Columbia City and established the H.R. Frank and Sons Greenhouse. Frank graduated from Columbia City High School in 1942.

Delmar Auer, 80

Delmar “Del” Auer, 80, of rural Columbia City, died at 1:37 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
He was born Dec. 10, 1929 in Whitley County, a son of John and Frances (Flaugher) Auer. His formative years were spent in Columbia City. He graduated from Columbia City High School in 1948. He then completed his Associate Degree at International Business College, Fort Wayne.

Lecinda Kiesling, 72

Lecinda Marie Kiesling, 72, of rural Columbia City, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at her home.
She was born July 19, 1938 in Wolf Lake a daughter of Prentiss and Dortha (Daisy) Miller. Her formative years were spent in Wolf Lake. She graduated from Wolf Lake High School.

Charles Ware, 58

Charles R. “Randy” Ware, 58, went to be with his heavenly Father Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010. Born Oct. 19, 1952 in Bluffton, he was a son of Charles Ray (Leota) Ware and Margaret “Peg” Roeger. He was a volunteer at Broadway Christian Church where he was also a member and was affiliated with “In As Much Ministries,” and was the former owner of ‘Busco Bait and Tackle.

Thorson Howe, 95

Thorson Allen Howe, 95, a resident of Round Lake, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 in the Miller’s Merry Manor, Columbia City.
He graduated from the Geneva High School and International Business College, served in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart for wounds incurred at the Battle of the Bulge.

Patricia Slagal

Patricia Ann Slagal, 68, of Columbia City, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne where she was admitted on Saturday.

She was born Dec. 2, 1941 in Fort Wayne a daughter of Lorane H. and Ruth Frances (Harroff) Carter. Her formative years were spent in Fort Wayne.
She graduated from Central High School with the class of 1960.

On Aug. 15, 1964 she was united in marriage to Gary Lee Slagal. They made their home in Fort Wayne, later moving to Tri-Lakes to pursue her passion of breeding and raising miniature dachshunds.

Roger L. Albertson

Roger L. Albertson, 67, died at 8:50 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010 in his Winona Lake residence.

He was born July 1, 1943 in Pierceton, a son of Rouff and Bertha (Bell) Albertson. He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County.

On June 30, 2001 he married Pamela Slusher in Milford. He worked in the maintenance department of Kimble Glass for 35 years, retiring in 2008.
