Donna Polk, 81

Donna L. Polk, 81, of Columbia City, died at 7:05 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at her home.
She was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Kokomo, a daughter of Samuel and Margurite (Lanning) Johnson.
Her formative years were spent in Greentown. She graduated from Greentown High School, attended Marion College and received her LPN certification from Indiana University Kokomo.

Barbara Hursey, 79

Barbara Lou Hursey, 79, of Columbia City, passed away at 3:42 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Born on March 11, 1934, at her grandmother’s home in Allen County, she was the daughter of Raymond and Pauline Marie (Schwalm) Brumbaugh.
She was a lifetime resident of Whitley County and graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1952.

Dorothy Bristow, 92

Dorothy Grace Bristow, 92, a resident of South Whitley, died at 1:20 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at her home.
She was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Washington Township a daughter of the late William F. and Flora P. (Grace) Terman. Her formative years were spent in Washington Township. She graduated from Washington Center High School in 1938.

Charlotte Paulus, 62

April 29, 2013

Charlotte Christine “Chris” Paulus, 62, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:16 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at her residence. Born on April 7, 1951, in Huntington, she was the daughter of William Charles Kelsey and Vivian Charlotte (Bodey) Stotts.
Charlotte grew up in Huntington and moved to Whitley County in 1967. She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1970. Chris attended the Practical Nursing Program with the Class of 1977, receiving her LPN., and later received an associate degree in applied science-nursing and obtained her RN in 1991.

Rodney Davenport, 89

April 26, 2013

Rodney Bell Davenport, 89, of Warsaw, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in his Irish Lake home, surrounded by his family.
Rodney was born Nov. 24, 1923, in Los Angeles, and was the youngest child of Fred and Muriel (White) Davenport’s three children.

Tawnya Jackson, 49

Tawnya Lynn Jackson, 49, of Columbia City, passed away at 5 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at her home.
Born May 30, 1963, in Grayson, Ky. she was the daughter of Hank and Anna (Brainard) Sexton.
She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1981. She then received her associates degree in accounting from Indiana Business College, Fort Wayne.

Robert Hine, 95

Robert Martin Hine, 95, died at Coventry Meadows April 22, 2013. He was a lifetime resident of Jefferson Township in Whitley County and son of the late Gustave and Myra Hine.
Robert worked at Coil Eng. in Roanoke and Dana Ft. Wayne for 33.5 years.
He liked gardening, mowing, the Colts, Indiana basketball and senior tours. Robert served in the U.S. Army 4.5 years in the 192nd Headquarters company and 38th Cyclone division receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and other metals from New Guinea and the Philippines.

Herman Farber, 82

Herman William Farber, 82, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at his home. He was born January 4, 1931 in Columbia City the son of the late Raymond and Elma Farber.
On September 8, 1973, he was united in marriage with Ruth Hart, and she preceded in him death August 27, 2002.
Herman served his country in the U.S. Army for 21 years. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked at American Hoist in Ft. Wayne.
He was a member of the Leo American Legion Post 409, Masonic Lodge in Leo and Eagles Aerie #2556 in Hicksville, Ohio.

Sandra Harter, 72

Sandra Sue (Wuertley) Harter, 72, a South Whitley native, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at her home in New Braunfels, Texas.
She was born Dec. 22, 1940 in Huntington a daughter of John Phillip and Elsie Marcell (Householder) Wuertley. Her formative years were spent in South Whitley.

Lenora Geiger, 95

April 22, 2013

Lenora Ellen Geiger, 95, a former resident of Noble County and widow of R. Franklin Geiger, passed away at 9:58 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at North Ridge Village in Albion. She had been a resident there since 2007.
Mrs. Geiger was born March 22, 1918, in Allen County, a daughter of James F. and Elva (Bosler) Fulk, and graduated from LaOtto High School in 1936.
She later graduated from Manchester College, and received her master’s in education from Indiana University, Bloomington.
